ViX Team Vu+ Duo Image v2.3 - 19/11/2011

there are 5 files that I put onto the box

ca.crt
ta.key
username.crt
username.key
username.conf

are these the config files you mean or are you talking about different ones? This did all work with 2.2 BTW.

i have never tested openvpn, send me what ever i need to test it, i have no access to a VPN server.

Read earlier in this thread that someone was preparing a video tutorial on setting up OSD. Did that happen does anyone know? OSD is all over the shop and I'm struggling with it. It would be nice if the out of box defaults were as per previous versions of vix and if there was an option to simply set to "full screen" rather than having to mess with left, width, hight and top values in a very jumpy refresh scenario. (he said humbly;)).

I really dont understand why anyone is have so much trouble setting up OSD. Its just soo easy to do, just use your up/down, left/right buttons either side of ok to change each axis.

Just giving this question a little bit of a bump....
I'm curious as to what the auto setting does in the 3d OSD?
As when I have it set to auto it makes no difference to the output?
Yet when I play an SBS file or channel and switch to side by side via the VIX menu my TV autodetects the 3D and switches to the correct 3D mode, but when I play an SBS File/Channel with the VIX OSD set to Auto the TV doesn't autodetect?
Is the auto setting supposed to allow automatic detection and flagging of 3D content?

tbh i don't think it does anything (on either Xtrend or Vu drivers) but i don't have a 3D TV to test.

Minder are you using you're vu+ via a HD TV?
Easiest way to ensure the OSD displays correctly is to set the TV to JustScan (or 1:1 pixel map as its known on some TVs) rather than having your TV set to 16:9 or similar

are you sure? after installing that driver, I am not seeing my device in Tuner Configuration.

I'm using these drivers to run a PlayTV and they are working fine, have you rebooted your Vu+ after installing?

Reboot the receiver for the drivers to take effect, if you have not already.

Ah, didn't realise I needed to do that. So can I offer some feedback based on the specific experience? Please no one take any offense at this.

1. I cannot find device drivers because they are now moved and renamed. Not only that, but they are renamed to the chipset rather than any make/model of device. I wonder how many users identify stuff by chipset numbers. Perhaps a note under the driver title, listing the devices that use the driver would be helpful?

2. After installing the driver, the box requires a restart yet I am not informed of this. So I as a user do not see my new plugin anywhere and am left wondering. Perhaps a message box advising a restart is required would help in this and other likewise scenarios?

Thanks Andy, If I use the Vu+ OSD menu to switch the mode to SBS my TV autodetects the 3D, which is a big bonus compared to old way of switching to 3d file channel then switching remotes(Or on my harmony the remapped 3D and OK buttons from my tv remote in Sat activity) to TV then >3d>picture format>ok that most other TVs require ;)
A huge usability bonus to anyone not using a Harmony Remote or similar :D as now if you don't have an all in 1 remote its still possible to put your TV in 3D mode with just the Vu remote....very useful ;)
I was just a little confused as to what the auto did, but believe me I can quite happily live with that functionality as it stands now!

can you PM me an email address please - it is a paid service so am not going to post the files here

Just installed VIX 2.3, but my screen gets cut off (from the left, the right and the bottom). Which setting do I need to change, to make it right?

Thanks

OSD settings. reduce the width first so both side are too small, the move the screen to left till correct, then increase width till correct.

then do the same for hight.

Next issue.

After a full rescan, I connected to VU with Dreambox Edit 4.1.0.1. Did a download from the box to my pc. Setup a few bouquets and then did an upload from Dreambox (pc) back to the VU+ Duo. Just before completion, the program hang. I restarted the VU+ and now I have no satellites. If I go to tuner config, I have no satellite options availabel at all, thus no satellite channels are working.

That's a problem with dreambox edit and not the image, just reload the bouquets again or use a different program like dreamset.

I have tried this, stretching the OSD to fill the screen, but for some reason when making the OSD wider, i have trouble,
I cant get the width to go any higher than 668/720, (there is still a gap on the right hand side), so i tried moving the screen over, but at a certain point (55/720), the screen stops getting wider and starts to narrow from both sides - very strange!!!!

Did you make the correct settings for DBE (i.e. etc/enigma2 for both the satellites.xml and the bouquets)?
Anyway: re-upload settings.

And if you still have problems: please open a new thread for this, as it indeed has nothing to do with the image.
