Even so, why are peeps concerned about the boot up time. All my boxes are in standby so boot up instantly. hehe.
Anyhow, on a serious note, to compare like for like, try the original image that first came with the receiver and see if it is the newer images with all the extras that is causing the boot up lag.

i was not commenting on op,i was commenting on his quote which is why i replied with his quote
boot time does not affect me but there was nothing wrong with op query or when someone was trying to help suggesting adding cashe flush plugin.i know that wouldnt help but no need for the bitchy comments when someone is only trying to help

As has been said hundreds of times cache flush in this case is pointless and simply won't help. cache flush is only helpful with the rare memory leak issue associated with some older gen 1 Vu+Duo receivers and certainly not a duo2. Using cache flush willy nilly where it is not needed will cause more problems that it could hope to solve.

well, i was talking about the duo2 initially... and it turned out that the boot process slowed down because debug log erroneously was always active. after that got fixed, boot time improved from 75s to 60s.
now, after reading that dm900 would boot in less than 10s i was wondering whether the ultimo 4k will also boot in less than 10s with a basic vix image. from a hardware point of view both boxes should be equivalent from a chipset speed viewpoint.

I really don't get why your so hung up on the boot time. as for debug logs yes they are always active once activated by you until you then de-activate them. thats kinda the point of them. (to log every thing the receiver does for analysis later aka debugging)

well, i would like the box to boot as fast as my tv (wich boots in 15s).
and i suspect that the dmm guys are using a newer boot method than the aged init.d boot process. maybe systemd???
that's all.
p.s. i would immediately buy the dm900 and shut up, but 2 tuners is not good enough for me... i need at least 4.

the need for the swap file came about because of the change to the EPG data, nothing to do with Image.
