[VU+ Duo] Automatic Timeshift Rewind function

I have noticed this too lately. in timeshift that once the program your watching ends and a new program starts at 8 o'clock you can't go back to the program you were watching before 8 o'clock it just keeps jumping back to the beginning of the start of the 8 'clock one. Timeshift should go back at least an hour if you haven't changed channel. This feature use to work properly on earlier builds around number 32 but something as changed lately.

I was watching timeshift yesterday with the approx 17 minutes in the 'buffer' before I started watching. The first advert break I skipped froward by approx 12 minutes. The second advert break I skipped forward using the '9' button which is set to skip forwards by 3 minutes. On the second press the buffer would have been exhausted but instead of taking me back to live TV or a timeshift of zero seconds I was taken back to the original 17 minute point.

Besides enabling TS, have you changed any of the other TS default settings?

No. I have also tried deleting TS and still the function don't work.
I see other people comments that it not working

Not exactly.
Just tried your steps in the first post, buiild 80, Solo2.
Paused TV at 8.25pm, change of show at 8.30pm (TV still on pause), pressed play at 8.35pm.
Playback starts as expected, from paused state.

Pressed stop to go back to live TV & now I can only rewind on current show, so something slightly funky there.
I could press record & choose Timeshift save recording (select event) & choose the previous show, which has worked though.

Yes that's the problem. It used to rewind back as far as you want on same channel. I saw this problem on old Vix 3.0 and Andy fixed it. Maybe he can again

I'm a bit confused by this - as I don't seem to have any problems I was timeshifting 6 o'clock news on RTE1, pressing play and pause while I left the room to cook dinner! By the time I sat down it was after 7pm, but I was on 6.45pm in timeshift. I continued watching right through into the next programme at 7pm but I was able to rewind back into previous programme right to the start of where I was timeshifting. I could shuttle backwards and forwards without any issues while I was still in timeshift. I would assume that once I pressed stop and exited timeshift (without saving anything) that any timeshift buffer would be deleted. Are you guys talking about permanent timeshift?

Yes PTS is the problem.
You used to be able to rewind as far back as you want while on same channel now can only rewind to current program, this also happens in timeshift i find.

Andyblac fixed this issue on vix 3.0 i have sent him PM to see if he remembers the fix

Ah ok - I thought it was regular timeshift. I generally don't have TS running permanently as it saves wear and tear on the disk.

You can if you press pause first IIRC & TS isn't set to kick in on number of seconds.
I use TS set to kick in after a set amount of seconds, rewinding only works on my recent tests to start of current show.
If you don't set TS to kick in after any second/minute settings (default ViX install) can you press pause & rewind to previous show then?
If so, what box & what ViX build number?

I do have time shift set to 2 secs and it does TS but as you found only to current program

There was a fix for this submitted on a Australian forum for the Beyonwiz T3 if I remember correctly and looking into things it does appear that their image os based directly on ViX but they dont seem to push the fixes back from what I can see. Although I am working to see what can be done about that as they seem a fairly competent group.

yes Andy is still about but is no longer as active as he once was for health and personal reasons. He still does bug fixes as and when possible but his time is quite limited these days.

When you start rewinding, if you want to rewinfd into teh previous program, you have to press < button (next to 0). This is so that you do not have to rewind the whole program. Same for fast forwarding works the same way but uses the > button (next to 0).

To recap, start rewinding, if you want to rewind to previous program, instaed of rewinding through the whole of the current program press the "<" button.

no dont expect any thing from that avenue any time soon. There are a few really nice people there who are trying to get fixes moving back up the chain but the main two devs are arrogant pricks. The weird thing is they are selling the receiver as a mainstream plug and play PVR than any and every one can use.
