[VU+ Solo2] Cannot update software from 3.0.808

Hello
I haven't updated the software of the VU+ Solo2 for many months and is currently version 3.0.808. When I try to update via menu I receive 'servers are down message' -have this message for many many months.

Please help as I would like to install the latest VIX stable software. what is the the latest version?
(I can update via USB stick which is how I updated to 3.0.808 many many months ago)

You need to update via USB as it's not recommended to update to the latest build Apollo 125 from such an old, no longer supported, image.

Also, it's recommended not to restore settings from such an old image as well I'm afraid.

ViX 3.0 was last updated over 14 months ago, it is now obsolete and no longer has access to the feeds servers hence the messages you quoted. if you want to update you will need to perform a full reflash from scratch without any backups as they are not cross compatible with the new image (Currently ViX Apollo build 124 / 125, which can be downloaded from www.openvix.co.uk).

Its not just not recommended but not physically possible.

Will I loose channels, settings, dish position, recordings on HDD etc if I update to v125? What will actually happen when I update from v3.0.808 to v125 via uSB?

Image is installed on flash memory, not HDD. Recordings will not be affected by installing an image.

You can backup channel data using dreamset/dreamboxedit etc.

There is a way to copy your tuner configuration. You have to copy the lines from settings file and paste on new setup. Might be easier to forget this for now.

You won't be updating. You will be installing a new image.

Ok I see I'll be wiping the flash completely, meaning the receiver will be as if i bought it from new without any settings or channels or the special lines...
What a shame as I REALLY do want to update from such an old version

I am a techie but not a programmer but can copy lines etc if guided. is it possible to guide me?

it's probably just as quick to take a screenshot (or phone camera photo!) of the tuner settings and re-set them
