trying to change passwd, but can not log into the telnet .. someone who knows what that can do that? has just added the new VIX image and use the + root dreambox as a logged in, but the telnet fails?

use either windows built in client or putty - remember there is now default password with vix pre set

If a default VIX image install, there is no password.
Username: root
password is blank, just hit return.

There is a application in the ViX feeds specifically for this, just download that if you cant access the passwd command via a telnet session.

Thanks . I use DCC v.2.95. is there anything else I can use?

when using a control center, I only get: ip is incorrect? I write the correct ip .. someone who can help me with this?

dcc is,nt the best software to use, filezilla is a free ftp software that is better suited

the reason you are having a problem, is that dcc does not reconize a blank password

you either need to re read this thread, and down load the password tool ( plugin ) or telnet the unit, as posted in this thread

sorry method not in thread so do this

use either "putty" ( free download ) or windows telnet

type in the address of the unit

login in is root

then type passwd ( not password )

you will then be promted to type your password, ( no text will be seen ) once done, hit return
and then repeat when prompted

you will then be able to use dcc, although really as said, file zilla is better
