[VU+ Solo SE] Crashing when trying to download add ons

Hi, please bear with me; complete newb in regards to sats etc, but I'm a developer by trade so pretty tech savvy. Received my VU+ Solo SE box a couple of weeks ago.

I wanted to check what add ons were available, but when I went to plugins > Download plugins, I got an error "There has been an error, please try again later. If the issue persists, please check openvix.co.uk or world-of-satellite.co.uk" - this happened every time.

I did a bit of digging around and found a thread that suggested removing the 'ocram-feed.conf' file from /etc/opkg.

I rebooted and tried again. it looked to be getting one stage further before crashing with the following screen:



Any help on getting would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Did you delete anything else there?

That message can only(?) come about if there is no /etc/opkg/opkg.conf file.
Although there is actually a bug in the attempt to catch the error - which is why you get a crash...

Thanks for the quick reply. I removed that file as suggest by a post I found online. I took a backup of the file locally beforehand; should I replace the file?

It was just coming up with "There has been an error...etc" when the file was in place.

That suggestion (according to your own report) was to remove ocram-feed.conf, not opkg.conf.
So which did you remove?

Just download the latest release to usb (008), fresh flash and the update probs should have gone away.
Oh, and next time you set up, disable timeshift m8.

Apologies - I get what you mean now. I did remove the wrong file; the file suggested is not even in that folder.

I've placed opkg.conf back in the folder, rebooted and now I'm not getting an error when searching for plugins.

When i navigate to /etc/opkg there is no ocram-feed.conf file in this directory . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is no need to to delete any files. Better to uninstall the picon feeds if that is what is being suspected to be at fault

Thank you for the quick response!! I'm currently on Hades 018 which was installed back in July 2015. My box is the Vu+ Solo2. When I having to /etc/opkg the following files are present:

3rdparty-feed.conf
all-feed.conf
arch.conf
mips32el-feed.conf
opkg.conf
vusolo2-feed.conf
vusolo2_3rdparty-feed.conf

non of which I'm guessing are the picot feeds? I don't have them installed as far as I can relict.

The only log that I have in /home/root is the ipkgupgrade.log

Hades is a very old image and no longer supported, also the feeds (plugins) are no longer available for Hades, thus the reason you cannot access them. You will need to update to 4.2.008 but in doing this you would need to setup your receiver from scratch with no settings/plugin allowed.

Hi Andy,

I have also tried to setup my Zgemma 2s box with the latest openvix-4.2.006 (this was when I realised that there was a plugin issue) which was released on the 02-Oct-2016 & I'm getting the exact same issue.

I know Hades is an old Image but I can't get the plugins on my Zgemma to work with any of the images from the 31-Aug-2016 to 02-Oct-2016. Is this related to the bandwidth issue? Thanks for you assistance.

You can disable the background update check if you do not want to flash latest image (yet).
Menu > Setup > System > Software Update Settings > Background check

There is no support for Zgemma on this forum. We do not make images for them. Use a supported image for them
