Hi
It seems either the latest drivers or the latest vix have disabled DD5.1 out :(

Audio Setting : Downmix off / AC3 audio.

The box will only output DD2.0 now (so it's as if downmix is on regardless of the setting) or PCM encoded stereo when using the NAR stream.

I'm using the optical out direct to my amp. (& the amp is fine with a sky digital box)

Regards
CG

We are aware of this ;) so don't worry
It will be sorted in a future update.
You can of course use the drivers from an earlier version as a temp solution :)

Yep ;) but does not pass though DD 5.1, only DD 2.0 for some weird reason
OK, understood; I just wanted to make sure that the test was carried out on a channel that definitely transmits 5.1 (as some channels/events are in 2.0).

I tested recorded stuff ;) DD5.1 on the Quad and DD2.0 on the TM using the exact same file.

Yep. Must be a driver issue as 4d is the same. No 5.1. Rolled back to older image and all ok.

If you suspect it is teh drivers, you could use the latest image with older drivers. I've gone back to 14/06/2013 as the 17/07 ones cause the date/time to go wrong and eventaully freeze if the dish is not on 28e.

EDIT: build 704 has 19/07 drivers.

Thanks guys. It's one step forwards and three steps back with TM's drivers lol

I suspect when they get 5.1 back, the pitcture will start freezing again :D

Oh well, time for a driver rollback (which will cause freezes, but at least the sound will be better :p)

EDIT: Rolled drivers back and 5.1 restored so it's not a vix error

New driver released and on test now. DD5.1 has been restored at the very least :)

don't think that's an official TM site?
also, we're waiting on a kernel & driver combo that can be tested & works better than the current version we've been given for ViX.

I've uploaded the driver so others can restore DD5.1 to their box, it simply needs FTP'ing to /lib/modules/3.5.3/extra (Permission 644) and rebooting..

The fact Vix incorporated the last driver seems to suggest whoever is testing them, isn't testing them very well :D

At least the above driver *seems* to work better than the July release, but that's why I'm testing it lol :p

The last driver was added to the image by error as it was not fit for release, rite now as judge pointed out we are waiting for a new driver / kernel set to test with the image as promised by TM to resolve a lot of the issues we have seen with previous drivers. if these are fit for release they will be, if there not they wont be.

no problem on uploading & you testing them.
however, as they haven't been released to the ViX team as of yet, they won't be tested by us until we get some notification.

As pheonix points out, those drivers were added by error & never tested by us.
Within an hour or 2 of that image being released, TM were notified of some serious bugs by us, all we can do is sit & wait till they provide the correct driver & kernel combo for us to test with ViX before any new drivers are included.

If these are the ones, so be it, but we haven't been given any official updates as of yet.

Update time:

Box locked up (no audio via optical or video via HDMI, remote control or lan access).

Then after a few minutes, without rebooting as I couldn't be arsed to get up and kill the power and telnet was not an option due to having no lan access, it started working again lol...

The previous June/July drivers have issues with the JSC HD channels on 7W which lock the box with similar issues (except the picture freezes instead of going black and only a hard reset can restore it)..

It's only done it once to be fair and it's been ok for the last 45mins or so, even with that bug, it's still better than the previous driver lol

Anyways, thanks for the info guys :)

The box has been rock solid since its brief lockup, hopefully this is a good sign :p

Another little update, it seems the drivers dated 20130807 are not that hot when trying to watch some HD channels elsehwere [other than 28E] as they produce garbled images (especially on 13E and 4.8E) so I'd say the ongoing battle to find a decent driver for the TM boxes continues sadly.

I've rolled back to the June driver now to restore these services as the current driver (in Vix) has the aforementioned DD issue..

It might be a good idea to remove the file (from post #12), although it does work well for 28E lol, just no good for multisat users..

So what would you recommend for a motorised setup with no external media playback just satellite viewing and recording
