Then I would go through the change log and see if there's anything interesting in it (I would say: at least a number of bug-fixes). Or just try this version.

i have vaugly tried dreaset and dunno if im biased or not here but i found dbedit far more easier to understand as a basic program and it has many features to make things easy to do like merge sets and add new transponders delete them etc

all that version 5 does is fixes bugs and makes the gui look more profesional and even more eiser to use than it was before

Because plain and skinless is drab and boring. I have been using DBE since its inception and well before IHAD took over from its creators as he primary update and bug fix team, I have tried every other program including dreamset and frankly they all look like a blind 5 year old child created them. After all we could easily use the same statment about skins on our various receivers why not plain and skinless ?.

I think DreamSet is a very good program; I use DBE, DreamSet & SetEditDream, as they all have their strong and weak points.
And a skin on a receiver is something quite different: on a program it only adds all kinds of colours, even to the point of making it hardly readable, on a box it does a lot to the location while keeping the main function, watching telly, in tact. And in both cases functionality is the important thing, not fancy colours with the sole and only purpose to distract attention from the functionality.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this...

Have dreamboxedit 5.03 installed, and in options it says it is connected to the receiver [VU+ dou with vix 2.3],

But it doesn't seem able to download anything from the receiver; all fields are blank. in the "tools" tab, all lines are grey except "options"

Do I need to change some setting in the receiver? is there a plugin I need to connect to dreamboxedit?

Those how to videos in German are just too tedious. If there's an English language written instruction file, I'd sure appreciate a link to it.

Anyone else found this.(Using windows 7)

LOL, correct: DBE has always been slow. Give Dreamset a try: nice program and much faster.
