well, i only read the beginning:

which says that it only works in combination with a power timer. and in addition autotimer execution if called from epg refresh would be terminated in the middle by epg refresh shutdown.

according to my experience the statement that a power timer is needed for epgrefresh to start (as a workaround) is correct because epgrefresh has a bug. i havent tried the automatic autotimer execution after epg refresh. this is next on my list.

on dreamos this works flawlessly. ;-) so, it can be fixed

p.s. some claim that it used to work in oatv 7.5 and is broken in 7.6.
but i don't see an epgrefresh code change in that time range.

a first test with autotimer activated in epgrefresh over night failed. either autotimer ist not started or epgrefresh shuts down before autotimer can do something. i have to look into that in more detail.
a manual epgrefresh start with autotimer enabled worked.
looks like everybody uses the power timer workaround and doesnt notice such bugs.

Using PowerTimer is a hack.

You need to get feedback from the autotimer run to know it has completed before shutting down.

btw. how does this work with prs? who is in charge of making the decision whether the pr gets accepted or not? the one, who reviews first?
if there is an owner who created the code, then he is obviously in charge. but what about code, that doesnt have a creator anymore?

EpgRefresh is part of an OE-A repo, so typically any OE-A distro can merge the pull request, but as an issue was raised that had to be dealt with first.
