[GiGaBlue QUAD] Gb quad stays on boot logo, no reboot after flash

Hi, can anyone help with that problem, after flashing an image this morning (openvix-3.0.808-gbquad_usb.zip) I cannot get my quad back to life, no matter what soft Im trying its always the same thing. Its flashing the image, blinking red&blue led and than the message on LCD - FLASHING IN PROGRESS changes to GIGABLUE PRESENTS and thats it, no reboot, no fun. Tried to flash bootloader_cfe_gigablue_quad_20130507.zip and the same, no reboot after :/ tried many different images but its just changing the welcome screen on my tv, no difference

Flashing the bootloader is always dodgy at best. If you have bricked it due to a bad flash it has NOTHING to do with serial numbers!!!!!!!!
Was work OK before flashing bootloader not afterwards doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out

didnt mean that any difference in bricking it with bootloader or image? thats what I meant but the flashing process of bootloader was EXACTLY the same as other flashes I have done before
if it would work ok I wouldnt flash it just for fun :/ couldnt record channels into hdd, been getting black screen or restarts as soon as timer been kicking off thats why I tried many images (no joy on any of them) and finally tried to flash bootloader

Try this (at your own risk!!)

Re-download the bootloader here.

Extract to your USB stick and rename the file called noforce to force.

Flash the bootloader.

When finished TURN OFF the rear switch. DO NOT turn back on at this point.

Next Re-download the latest public VIX here and do the same thing (rename that file)

Put the USB stick into you Quad and turn on the power switch and let it flash.
When finished hopefully all will be well (if not its bricked)

should have rs232 from previous boxes somewhere but will have to look in the shed tomorrow, wont find it today, no way :/
is there a software for doing it that way?

You could get a bootlog, might throw some light on the situation

Have you done the usual of removing ALL other USB devices from the box and try using a different USB stick.

right, found the cable now, any ideas (yes i have tried other usb stick with the same result)

Then make a bootlog (i.e. connect the cable, start Putty (or so) and switch on power on the box).

gigablue-support.com Admin 'testi' went on putty through null modem cable (team viewer & skype) and got it going with command

setenv -p STARTUP "boot -z -elf nandflash0.kernel:"

boot -z -elf nandflash0.kernel:

next time, copy & paste it to burn.bat and use it from the usb stick

can I get a step by step how to connect to my box using putty, I downloaded an update from openRSI and now the box is stuck and wont go further.

Hi, switch off the box...remove all cables. Only the power supply and hdmi to tv should remain connected. then try turning it back on. give it a good 5 mins. I had the same problem last weekend and managed to resolve eventually. Can help you further if that doesnt work.

Since i got the same problem i need to ask you one or two things on how Testi resolved the problem.
You are saying that you did copy the above commands to burn.bat but you are not saying which file (or no file) you included in the USB... was it the bootloader or the image? This might be a silly question but i am really stuck here and would appreciate a helping hand.

Well, it seems to me that whenever I want to change the image from open VIX i always getting that problem, always stuck on boot logo. Theres no problem with flashing it from MIPS to ATV or VIX as long as the old (main) image isnt VIX, really w0ierd.
Got stuck now, I havent flashed it for months so it was a good moment to try some other images I thought, been using old VIX from april or may so I gave it a go...
burn.bat didnt worked this time (btw, just a fresh, fully formated with 'hp tool' or smthg similiar with that file, some people add it into gigablue and quad folders, will have to try later) so now putty time...

You need to format to fat32 your usb were the image will be load , after that first load the latest bootloader for gigabluequad and after is done format again the same usb to fat32 and load the image , start the update process on your gigablue with the usb and you ready to go , the same issue happen to me and with this procedure I resolved the problem

tried and still no joy (new bootloader gigablue_bootloader_gbquad_20140724.zip and a new openvix-Apollo.037-gbquad_usb.zip) and thats what im getting after putty serial connection (rs232)



any ideas? tried different coding in putty, unicode and ansi and still nothing, would it be down to my windows language, localization or smthg?

solved, wrong speed set on putty, instead of 9600 should be 115200...
