[VU+ Solo2] iOS app assistance

Hi there folks

What I'm wondering is if their is anyone that can offer assistance

I use an app for iOS called
E2remote pro for streaming to iOS devices such as my iPad and iPhone!

I have been in email touch with the developers as transcoding won't show on the app since upgrading to Zeus ,


The developers got back and said that the vix Zeus image doesn't follow the conventional vu naming method that the software will use to define features

it means, the name of the box model in the VIX image is wrong.

CORRECT: Solo2
WRONG: Solo²

CORRECT: Duo2
WRONG: Duo²


Do you see the lower two in the name?

That's what I got back so according to them that's the reason and it needs to be sorted in the image as some software will look for it like above

Is this true and if so can it be changed for next release ?

Not sure what his talking about but have brought it to Andy's attention.

Not a coder by any stretch of the imagination but highly doubt box name would be needed for an application to run effectively and if that is the only thing to stop it from functioning then imho its poorly written in the first place as there is no such thing as an agreed standard.

When I've set up transcoding up for people with IOS devices I used an app called blackbox. You do have to pay a fiver for it but it's full of options and works perfectly with vix and transcoding.

Yeah use blackbox also better for transcoding but e2remote was better outdoors at finding box


Not sure what he means but it's something to do with the box naming on the image

As they said the app checks for this name for feature that the box can do apparently to enable them in app

But won't enable them as the name on the image differs from the conventional naming from vu

That's what I thought just thought if ask as I'm using a mixture of iOS streaming apps just now

Blackbox is great in transcoding and using within same network
But won't work wen I'm outside

All I get is a message to say check the tuners :/


E2remote pro find and connects to box fine outside but no other features


Now if I can find an app that does it all I'm laughing

I've had no problem using blackbox outside an internal network. Just make sure you have the correct ports forwarded in your router and use the external ip address of the router or use a dynamic dns service.

Yeah have correct ports forwarded as I can access the box etc set recording and play media from the e2 remote app

But blackbox been strange and nothing changed ?

I get exactly the same using blackbox outside my network, corrects ports forwarded but I get connection failed....strange!

What I did is not enable able transcoding features in blackbox at all just set it up as a normal enigma 2 box but then set the streaming port to 8002 so that it is using the transcoding port.

I don't have any apple devices (not a fan) it was a member of the familiies ipad I set up.

Would need to look at it to be sure but not sure when that'll be.

I heard back from developer via email and was told to check this

Have you forwarded both ports 80 and 8002 (both TCP) from your Vu+ device?


I haven't got port 80 forwarded as in using a different port number but have that and 8002 forwarded

But no change
