[VU+ Duo2] Latest online update Apollo 147 will not update

As i said flashed fresh image 147 loaded Blue Hd Skin (sly one) loaded Cccam 2.3 and (Mgcamd 1.35a seems more stable than 1.38) all seems ok

i have image backed up on box if anything goes wrong in usb flash will my settings etc be still on box? i think ill wait until a build that will flash online for me maybe scared to lose everything lol

well flashed system from usb and it installed 147 fine went to put backup on and its only installed half of what I had setup.
So its back to virtually a basic system again.....

Re-flashing image back on from before upgrade and see what happens...

I had this issue on my duo 2 but not my other boxes and all are set up the same. I just used telnet to upgrade.

Guys you really need to grow some!! Press the blue button and choose vix, backup manager, new backup. Once this is finished delete the other backups(this bit is optional, I only do it to know for sure which settings backup will be used). Exit and go to image manager, downloads and choose 147. Once this has finished choose it from your list and let it go through the install. Once finished choose yes to settings backup and yes to plugins restore and you will back to where you were prior to upgrade but now obviously on 147.

In most cases the problem is that booting the receiver first time after reflashing doesn't connect the internet. Thus, plugins cannot be installed.
After rebooting, restoring the settings-backup and plugins everything is as it was again. I believe that the wireless USB-driver is missing after the first booting. Sometimes LAN-connection finds the Internet-connection immediately.

I just did this on my duo2 and the online update was fine, though I did do a clean flash for 146.

I know I will likely get flamed for this but these are enigma2 receivers and as such you should all be familiar with them enough to have to setup from scratch if needed. you have all had it way too easy for way too long, with pre-setup backup images and online updates. you even have the ability to fully backup your entire image if need be so stop wining and get on with it.

If you dont know how to reflash the receiver go to www.openvix.co.uk and read the tutorials and learn how to do it, you can even ask questions here on the forum as thats what we are here for, but every single one of you should know the basics of flashing your receiver and setting it backup from scratch and there is no excuse if you dont.

Hi Lgleave22 did blue button etc still on 142 ?? connected by Lan there is nothing wrong with 142 it works perfectly. being a lowly junior member what is the purpose to upgrade time and time again I never see any improvement, maybe I need to go to Specsavers XMBC (KODI) still does not work and some times crashes TSmedta works very well and does not crash. would it not be better to turn of the flashing upgrade light???

Every update has a full changelog available for you to read first to allow you to decide for your self if a update is warranted and while you may not see a difference in the GUI (Graphical user interface), it does not mean there were not significant updates carried out. You can choose to park your image on any version you please but you wont be able to take advantage of the many, many updates and improvements if you do that.

As for XBMC it's a closed source plugin provided by Vu+ and it is still technically in BETA status, we have no control over it, we just use what we are given and yes I agree it's buggy as hell but users wanted it included in the image regardless.

This isn't true though is it, for example after doing a couch flash and settings restore on all my boxes i have to manually install the drivers for my usb tuners, reboot then enter the settings for them again... so i'm not back where i am, doesn't bother me like but there are lots of other plugins and settings that people use that don't get backed up in a settings backup, yes i know you can add files to be backed up but trying to find all the dependencies for a custom plugin isn't always possible.

Mate you are much more sophisticated in your setup and as such my reply was for those that will have a very basic setup which Imo if they are not comfortable with flashing a receiver then this is what they are likely to have. I do get what you are saying though so should have been a little more specific, but people really need to read more, visit the site more and not just think they can buy plug and play boxes with a line and come here for a quick answer when somethings changing? You and I are on here an awful lot and how much have we learnt as a consequence of doing so? On rant over, enjoy your Sunday guys!

Simply do a telnet update,

Pretty much my point exactly, and it's not made any easier by the masses of users who get a box then throw a dodgy backup image on there with god knows what little gems hidden inside by the so called author. When things go wrong theses users dont even know how to do a simple task like reflash the image and thats something every single person who owns a E2 box should know in my opinion.
