[VU+ Duo2] Media player mkv subtitles stuck on

I'm loving VIX so far but I've got a couple of reasonably simple problems. On some MKV bluray rips the subtitles display at all times. I have (I believe) turned them off, but they continue to display. I can change the language by pressing audio twice but there isn't a subtitles off option in there. only english 1, english 2 and many foreign language subtitles. I have switched off subtitles in the main setup menu too but no joy. It seems that only certain mkv's are doing this. Recent TV shows and bluray movies seem to be the most affected but I've not tested everything yet. Could someone point me in the right direction, it seems that most of the problems people are having when I google this and search the forum are with the subs not displaying, I wish I had their problem. lol. Just typed a detailed report hit the wrong button and it deleted rather than saved it so now i'm gonna go scream.

If anyone else encounters this problem then you'll probably feel as stupid as I do now I've worked it out. Press audio twice and it'll bring up the subtitles language options. There will be one with an x next to it. press select on that one and it'll turn off subtitles. So bloody obvious when you're not looking for a technical answer. Now if anyone could inform me how they can be turned off as standard and how to set downmixed sound as standard on titles with no sound without downmix that'd be great.
