[VU+ Duo] network connectivity issues since upgrading to Apollo image

Hi,

I have a vu duo which I bought from World of Satellite about two years ago. Everything was working fine on vix 3.0 build 800, but I decided to upgrade to the latest Apollo image.

I noticed during the setup wizard that it took three attempts for it to find an IP address, but didn't think anything about it. While watching tv the picture would go blank and I thought it was an issue with the subscription, but it isn't.

I then installed the tsmedia plugin which works fine on vix 3.0 build 800, and the same network issue occurs I have to click on a link 3 or 4 times before it works. Having gotten fed up with these issues I decided to put vix 3.0 build 800 back on and I've had no issues. I've tried all the Helios, Zeus and Apollo images (before they were removed from the site) and I have the same network issues with all these images.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

What is your memory usage on the new images.

If wi-fi connection is used, first start-up doesn't find the connection. You may have to install the USB-wi-fi driver after the first start. So, fixed lan-connection should be used when reflashing. That's my experience.

I'm using a wired connection. Works fine in every image before Helios

Yes, it was flashed using a usb and there are no backups of any kind on the hdd. I only have this issue if I use an image higher than vix 3.0 build 808

The memory data shows that you have set up a swap file - is that what you did when you loaded the latest image.

The memory is from after I've put the image on, I setup the swap space later as I normally have 5 or 6 plugins installed

Hi guys,

My issues still hasn't been resolved, and I really need help. If I use any image after vix 3.0 build 808 I am getting network issues, even during the setup wizard it keeps say that you I'm not connected to the Internet. I have to keep pressing OK 4/5 times then eventually it finds an IP address. It's also happening when I use any plugin that requires an Internet connection. I bought the box from Workd of Sattelite so it's not a clone.

Please help as it getting really frustrating.

Are you using a fixed IP, if not have you tried it. You have to set DHCP to no in Network settings.

I've tried both, same results. It's strange how everything is fine on the older images, could it be a driver issue?

If there's any tests I can do or logs I can upload, please let me know

I can't offer any real ideas to resolve your problem.

If your VU+ Duo1 is very old - say older than year 2012 - you should have updated your Boot Loader. But I doubt you need this as the old boot loader was for v2.0 images. Once the v3.0 series of images were released your box should have the latest (= current) bootloader - or it would not work. You could double check this.

As I understand your problem - if you load a completely fresh current image using the USB method you get network problems - that suggests hardware or local network problems. But then you say that if you re-install the previous v3.0 image everything works ok. It does not make any sense to me.

All I can suggest is that you try again to load a completely current fresh image and start a fresh thread listing exactly what happens as clearly as you can. I would hope that you can get some interest and help from some of the technical gurus on the forum who might be able to pinpoint the problem.
