Hi,

I originally had my recording padding set to 5,10 under "Recording Settings". Used autotimer a few times.
I decided to change the padding to 1,3
When I now add a regulat timer from the EPG it is fine and setting the padding to 1,3 but when I use Autotimer the default is stuck at 5,10. I can change it on the second screen each time but for some reason the autotime XML was not reflecting the change to 1,3.

Whe I checked the Autotimer.xml there was a setting at the top of the XML:

I have now manually changed this setting to:
<defaults from="16:30" to="23:15" offset="1,3">
.... and autotimer is now adding the correct padding on the second screen.

Just wanted to give a heads up that it does not seem to be updating with changes when you make them in the recording settings screen.

I think there is a separate default padding time in the AutoTimer setup menu. (It's separate from the recording settings). I'll check and do a screenshot later tonight.

Apologies - life intervened and I forgot to check! I had a look just now and there is actually not a overall default in the settings menu for AutoTimer. I had a check of my autotimer.xml file and I can't see any such setting as you have "<defaults from="16:30" to="23:15" offset="5,10">". However, in the ordinary AutoTimer config (that you can set for each AT by pressing enter on the particular timer in the list) there is a setting "Custom Offset" where you can vary the start and end offsets for that particular autotimer and its resulting timers XML file. It saves you going in to edit the xml. It may be that my workflow is slightly different than yours when setting up a new AT. I usually highlight a programme in the EPG and press the BLUE button to set an AT. When the resulting mini-options screen comes up I usually untick the "exact match" option, particularly if the EPG has "New:" in the title and this makes the resulting actual timer search less strict, so the resulting timers will work on future episodes even if the broadcaster drops the "New:" after a couple of weeks - I'm looking at you C4 particularly! (This "fuzzy" matching logic option in AutoTimer which means there mostly isn't an issue with timers might explain why you felt the need to go to such lengths with filename editing in "MovieOrganisor" (sic) which just isn't an issue when using the in-built Collections logic).

I don't tend to use custom offsets for BBC/ITV/C4 and variants as the VPS plugin handles the start and end of recordings very well as these broadcasters use automated playout systems which signal the actual start of the programme in the EIT stream rather than triggering on the scheduled EPG time. VPS is not so useful for C5 and the "lesser" channels which don't use exact triggers but are locked to EPG schedule.

Thanks for that. It's an odd one for sure. Until I changed that setting in the Autotimer.xml I was constantly getting a default padding of 5 before and 10 after the event. As soon as I changed that line in the XML the default padding went to what I set in there.

No idea what set that in the XML originally but.... Now I have it set it seems to be behaving and every time I create a new autotimer it seems to be picking that setting up.

All is well and maybe someone elsse will have this problem and find this tip useful

I am not familiar with the VPS plugin. I will look that one out. Is it installable from the downloads section of the plugins? Does it work with both Terrestrial and Satellite tuners and more importantly for me.... will it work with streamed channels from a master box to the place where I record (locally on the slave box) - I expect it might not but if not them I'm happy with my padding of 1 before and 3 after?

Maybe the following can help others regarding the Autotimer padding / offset times, without having to edit the autotimer.xml file manually:
Not sure if previously it was in the Autotimer Main Settings (when in Autotimer overview: hit <Menu> button and choose Settings).
But now there are 2 choices: 6 - Settings and 7 - Edit new timer defaults.
The padding / offset times are in the latter, as well as the Default Active time.
