Hey i have a real solo 2 but after i have just updated it all i get "HW ERROR"

I can load up a very old ver of the firmware to make it work.

What can i do? I have had the unit for around a year.

i have removed the HD and anything else that could be causing the problem. The only image that works for me is VIX ImageVu+ Solo 2

13/05/2013-OpenViX3.0.664
kernel 3.3.8

are you absolutely 100 percent sure it's a genuine unit ? and where did you purchase it from ?. because only clones show the behavior you are showing.

100% mate did all the checks via the serial numbers. The company i got it from was Shopping4Satellite i could send it back but around 4 weeks waiting just trying to find a fix rather than send it back.
Is there a way it could be a kernel issue?

Did you upgrade the bootloader and What image did you upgrade it to and how

forget the bootloader question I thought it was a solo :o

There is no kernel issues as far as i am aware, and the HW error is very specific to clones and only clones.

He means that it will accept any numbers you put into it, thus is not a reliable way to determine authenticity.

And even if that were not the case: were does the number come from? You think a company can clone a complete box, even to the level that it is almost impossible to see it's fraud, and then not be able to clone a number :)

Did not know the app did that, bit of a whore :( so i dont know then could be a fake, did u see the pics i posted?

Thats where the problem comes in, the solo2 clone is almost none distinguishable from the original, barring some of the newer so called x-chip versions. but the HW error was put in place by Vu+ specifically to prevent clones using newer images / drivers.

The pics you've posted doesn't have the extra circuitry where the text D1 has been written that you'd normally see on a clone but as others have pointed out the HW Error to date has been a preserve of clones. I'm not too sure, what happens if you download and flash vix 3 808? On an early clone that image will also give you HW Error.

Is this statement true? CERU Trading Co. is the South-Korean company that develops and markets all VU+ products.

Yes Ceru Company Ltd. (a subsidiary of Marusys Co., Ltd.), are the company who develop and market all Vu+ products ( except the Vu+ cam module, thats nothing to do with Vu+ ).

Anyway: I've never heard of a genuine VU showing that HW-error and only being capable of accepting older images.
So I would certainly return it to sender, and look for a proper retailer (not hard to find :) ).
