Hi,
After extensive testing I have found issues with recording/timeshift on all versions of OpenViX from 3.0.808 onwards. Some of the issues raised also happen in the 4D/OpenPli image supplied by Technomate.
The first problem in later versions of the image (Helios onwards) is that the receiver sometimes becomes overloaded when recording or timeshifting. The receiver becomes so overloaded Cams start being slow to respond and ECM times go through the roof. Occasionally, the ViX rotating logo appears in the top corner of the screen too, suggesting the system is becoming overloaded and busy. This doesn't appear to happen in Zeus and earlier images.
The second problem is when fast forwarding, rewinding, skipping 15 seconds/1 minute etc. in timeshift. Sometimes the playback will skip back to the last point you paused at/rewound to etc. if you rewind or fast forward later on in the timeshift. It's almost like timeshift "bookmarks" where you last did any activity of fast forwarding/rewinding and it takes you back there if you press to fast forward or rewind later in the timeshift playback. The same sometimes happens if using the 15 second/1 minute etc. skip forwards/backwards number buttons. Also, tv programs that end during timeshift sometimes get stuck, and the timeshift just loops the last second of that program or the first second of the new tv program. Pausing and playing sometimes cures this, but sometimes it requires you to skip the timeshift forwards 15 seconds to get you out of the loop. This happens on all versions from 3.0.808 onwards, and also on the original 4D team OpenPli image. This suggests to me this could be a driver issue that needs attention?
Anyway, this isn't meant as a criticism, I just thought I'd report my findings including plenty of detail so that the later Vix images can fix the problem and be even more awesome!
