Hi updated tm nano oe via menu everything went fine but when receiver re-booted after update, stuck on technomate with penguin logo.
Tried to flash with usb just goes to boot logo no option to update. Was on early apollo vix can't get info.
What do i need to do to bring it back? brought from sponsor

What image did you update from and what image did you update to? Did you update via a fresh flash or via the online update? If you flashed did you do a settings restore? It sound like your usb stick isn't recognised when you flash. Have you formatted it with the HP USB tool to fat32?

If you were on a really old image, flash bootloader first.

Delete update folder on USB before transferring image file.

Flash image again.

Thanks for your help tried different usb flashed new image up and running now. Had new bootloader installed ages ago. Did OTA update to which ever was latest. Should i always update via USB? and any advice/formum links much appreciated so i don't get into trouble again thought i BRICKED it.

Now that you have the latest image, you should be able to update by the usual method. The newest build had some significant changes which meant that a fresh flash was required, especially if you upgraded from such an old image.
Glad you got it sorted.

Should i always update via USB?
No, but it does depend on changes gone into the image since you last updated. If a fresh flash is required, it's always announced here on the forums, on the facebook page & on the twitter feed.
A new feature has gone into the development image that warns on the box too if there are a lot of updates to be done.

Also, doing a couch flash (blue button -> ViX -> Image Manager -> yellow button to download the image you want,
blue button -> ViX -> Image Manager -> blue button to restore/flash the image you want) is a lot handier than using USB sticks these days.
