Hi

i want to install a skin but it's in a tar.gz file how do i install it on a Duo please, uncompressing and installing manually will take forever.

regards: canthackit

first make sure the skin is compatible to your image . if so then ftp the file to tmp .

then say if you are using the blackhole image you would need to press green then yellow button .

this would give you the option to install the file manually . press ok to do that & restart enigma & go to menu -settings -skins & choose your new skin .

pretty much install it the same way you would a .ipk file although as the post above me said make sure the skin ism compatible with your image as some can end up in a full on greenscreen bootloop

ok guy's 1st this is the skin i want to install VuConcinnityHD-by-HOLI i'm sure it's compatable.

2nd i did try to install it by copying the tar.gz to /tmp then blue button/vix/install lcal extension.

3rd it aint listed :( hence the post;)

Just unzip the files on your PC, then copy the folder to /usr/share/enigma2
Then it will be listed in Menu --> settings --> System --> Skins

ok thanks Rob

but does it overwrite the existing file(s) or are they catered for in the new skin.

installed the package manually....and got the GSOD:rolleyes:

it say's it's for the VIX image not for me it aint.

Based on Kernis DMConcinnity-HD skin. Skin should be support BlackHole, Vti, Vix and OpenPli images. There are many modifications. I put some new graphics.

there you go

OK i take it all back

one file in the wrong place is all it takes :nono:

it's all ok now.

LOL it's so easy to end up in a GS loop when tinkering with skins. glad you got it sussed.
