Hi all.

VIX 2.3/VU+ DUO but general VIX question really.....
When doing a tuner scan, say you have two cables coming in from the dish, one to each tuner. How should you setup your tuners? Should you set uoTuner A and then set Tuner B equal to it, or setup both tuner A and B independently?

If both feeds are from a fixed dish ie sky uk then set them both to simple / single. This way both tuners take full advantage of having a independent feed each.

If you set one tuner to equal the other, you are essentially setting it up as a loop through from one tuner to the other which is what you would do if you had one feed only.

At least that's how I understand it, but I don't have a dual tuner receiver.

Thanks phoenix. So is that the difference?
i.e
(1) A=B - Box Thinks it only has one actual feed coming in...whereas
(2) A and B set independently, Box assumes two feeds and makes full use of services such as multi-channel recording etc

Have I got it correct?

Sorry, that's not correct; you can choose "equal". If it were a loop through, "loop through to tuner A/B" should be chosen.
"Equal" prevents the need to type the same info twice.

But be aware: there are some reports of "equal" not working correctly. So if you have any suspicion that something is not OK, type the same info in the second tuner.

Yes that's how I understand it. But my experience lies with single tuner boxes so I may be wrong. No doubt if I am some one will correct me.

Hehe, just did so :sofahide:

I'm a big enough bloke to put my hands up and say i was wrong when proven so, as i said i have no experience with dual tuner receivers so my answer was just what i though the most logical way of interpreting those options would be.

so thank you i stand corrected.

so just to clarify if it where a motor setup and i wanted two feeds how would i set the duo up with tuner B?

Set Tuner B to "Second cable of motorised LNB".
Now the box knows that tuner 2 can control the LNB but not the motor.

yes as rob said, you would have one feed from going to the motor and the other directly from the LNB to the box bypassing the motor, you still get signal but the box now knows which feed controls the motor.

Heres my setup Vu=duo. motorised dish
tuner A advanced
tuner b second cable from motor lnb tuner A
still not giving me full option to record and watch other channels at same time.
Please advise im going wrong somewhere

go menu/setup/customize/near the bottom of the list, select "preferred tuner", and select Tuner A

As that setting is correct, you need to give some more info on what exactly is going wrong.
1- What is the exact Tuner A configuration?
2- Are there channels greyed out?
3- And if so, is that only the case on transponders on other satellites, while a recording is in progress?
4- Are channel not greyed out, but still giving no signal?
5- And if so, is that only the case when a recording is in progress?
6- If you set "Preferred tuner" to "Tuner B", does that make any difference on questions 2-5?

Please answer all questions in order to give a clue about what is going on.

Why would you do that: there's nothing to gain in this situation.
