Twin Tuners. Watch one, record one

Good Evening and Hello All,

I have a quick question for all you satellite buffs!

I am planning on getting a twin tuner receiver so that I can watch one channel and record another . . . both channels will be off the one satellite.

Do I need two lnbs? If I just need just the one lnb, do I need two coaxial cables from the one lnb going into the receiver?

Sorry if this is the most basic of questions . . . . . . . . I hear the trigger being pulled . . .

I should add that I ask this question as when you see the "usual" satellite dishes around . . they only have one lnb and one coaxial cable but on there you can watch one channel and record another . . .

you need a minimum of a twin LNB ( I'd go for a quad incase you find two feeds are not enough in the future ), so that each tuner on the receiver gets its own feed from the LNB / Dish.

So the lnb dictates how many tuners it can serve within the receiver?

I don't need two lnbs just because it is a twin tuner?

I was going to put two lnbs on the dish to serve two different rooms, each with it's own receiver.

A quad lnb will fill your requirements for two rooms, 4 feeds equals four tuners i.e. 2 receivers with 2 tuners or 4 single tuner receivers.

you just need a single LNB with enough outputs to support the number of tuners you want to use, so if you have two receivers each with two tuners a quad lnb will do. I use Two sky zone 2 dishes each with a octo LNB ( 8 feeds each ) and a 80cm motorized dish with a twin lnb.

As you have a motorised dish, I think you are not making the most of the situation. Yes it will work as described above.

Consider adding a mini dish with a quad lnb. You will then always have instant zapping to 28.2 with the watch one record another option even without moving the dish. Added benefit of being able to connect other receivers to the fixed dish.
