ok just started again with clean flash,

1. did full scan - 940 channels
2. installed latest AB plugin and did full scan - no errors and all channels sorted
3. rebooted and all channels greyed out with 'check tuner configuration'

Didn't even touch DBedit :(

Dont know if your aware but ABM does not require you to scan any thing prior to running it unlike this plugin

tried with and without, I think its because AB is changing the name of 28.2 in satellites.xml

Have you compared the satellites.xml file from the box before and after running AB or ABM to see if it does write any new data to it or not ??.

ah its not, only on my version after DBedit import - sorry for confusion

as far as i'm aware AMB does not write any data to the satellites.xml file i'm assuming this is the same as with AB ??.

whats AMB?

also what does the option for NIT scan mean?

ABM = AutoBouquetsMaker

It's our own plugin built directly into the ViX image and can be accessed from Menu> Setup> Service Searching> AutoBouquetsMaker.

Phoenix is correct no scan required with ABM.. I set my mates duo up on Saturday last and thought I did have to but ran it anyway to be sure. Brought in the channels in less than a minute.

yup i always set mine up strait after setting up the receiver as there is no need for a scan prior, were also looking at integrating it directly into the FIW = first install wizard, along with the usual tuner setup.

use hd swap option in the setup of the plugin?

That way does work, but that also screws up the order from original sky order,
If you want to keep sly order and hd first you are better off using the custom.txt file in the plugin

Read my post #659 from earlier. This is best solution

Thats a area where ABM works great with no additional tinkering needed, just select HD swap and forget about it.

Granted yes, but there is areas where it is lacking functionality, unfortunately.

I absolutely agree yes, while they may appear the same they are in truth very different animals and both have areas in which they excel and lack in comparison to each other.

There however is nothing wrong in pointing out where one may be better suited over the other for different users.

...unless you live in Scotland, in which case channel position 103 becomes blank because STVHD (or ITV1 HD) doesn't exist at channel position 178. You can of course modify a file to avoid this happening, but that requires an element of tinkering :p
