It should have EPG. How are you acquiring EPG data?

To answer your question, one way is to o select the channel , long press record, it should then prompt you for a date and time to start and end the recording.

In any of the other screens, look for "add timer". You may be prompted to define/select the channel(service).

did you set sources in epgimport ? Blue button

Thank you for your help.

Sorry for the delay in rsponding.

The source for EPG is set.

After selecting the channel a long press on the record button did not offer the option of inputting the required info.

I have managed to get the EPG data for the problematical channel working.

I restarted the Vu , again, then removed to offending channel from the Favorites.

I attempted to add the problematical channel again, it did not appear on the list!.

I added another channel to the list and it appeared and the EPG was populated.

I successfully removed the latest added channel from Favorites.

I added the problematical channel again, it did appear on the list and this time the EPG was populated.

You still have not clearly stated how you are obtaining EPG. Please describe the EPG acquisition process/method you are using. Please do not confuse the matter with channel lists, favourites, groups, bouquets. It is a separate process.

Some people use
Inbuilt EPG readers - some require zapping to a specific transponder
EPG Refresh
OpenTV EPG downloader
Cross EPG downloader - satellite based
Cross EPG downloader - internet based
EPG Importer
Kiddac's EPG plugin
Lraizer's radio times emulator coupled with EPG importer

If you are using EPG Importer, the missing references were reported to the Rytec team and EPG should be available for it.

Should you wish to try EPG from the stream, see this thread:

Setting up Sky UK epg download.

OpenViX 5.4.005 or greater:

Be certain to have a tuner set up for 28 east:

Go to EPG menu and select "OpenTV EPG downloader":

Change "Enable OpenTV download" to "yes":

Press GREEN to save:

That is it. The download will happen automatically.

If you only have a single tuner receiver the download will occur when the receiver is in standby.

It is also possible to force a download from the Extensions menu (press BLUE from live TV)...

You can still set a recording without EPG data. While on the channel you wish to record, main menu, timers, timer, green button, set details and green button to save.
