I was wondering if there is a file for xbmc for use with the vu+zero?

There wont be a official XBMC addon from Vu+ for this receiver like it's bigger brothers the Solo2, SoloSE and Duo2 due to hardware limitations but you can load the Kodi direct plugin which should be present in the plugin feeds for most images (I know it's there for the OE-A based images etc).

You don't need to open it, you need to install it.
Copy it to /tmp/ & use your images way to install it, or after placing it in /tmp/, issue the following in a telnet session:

ipkg install /tmp/*.ipk

He's new to E2 but not satellite as a whole, A user on his forum (North American based) recommended he place the .ipk on a USB stick and let the image install it that way, until he gets his head around using FTP and telnet etc.

Found it in plugins and installed. This is my first attempt at E2, I have been into the sat hobby for almost 20 years...my neighbours think I'm communicating with aliens with all the dishes I have. I found several addons when I get into Kodi, should I add all of them?

All e2 images create crash logs when they encounter a software crash as well as having the ability to generate debug logs. These logs should be forwarded along with a brief description of what happened to the image team who's image your are using.

No xbmc won't work on the Zero.

The kodi direct plugin should work though.
