I have downloaded this update and installed it but it just goes into a restart loop with an error about the screen test and some keys not being read it just loops through the error message with out ever restarting

Was this a fresh flash or a Online update ?.

Both my Uno and Duo updated fine I did have a issue with the ultimo the first time i flashed it but have since flashed it several more times and every other one worked fine, the only difference was the first time i had a lot of extra plugins installed such as TS-panel and Airplayer etc. all other times i flashed were either clean flashes or online updates from backups that did not contain these extra plugins.

Download it again just incase that download was corrupted ( try a different browser if possible ).

downloading with IE9 now will try a third reflash when it has extracted

reflashed and it is still looping with the runscreentest() error a continuous we are sorry your receiver has encountered a software problem and will restart in 10sec

what was your previous image and did you restore any settings backup

previous image was 2.3.204 as i didnot like the epg setup on 2.4.?? and i have not restored any settings it does not load as far as being able to do anything it loops at just before you can set the screen that is what the runscreentest error is about

try flashing the bootloader then the image, are you sure you have a genuine box ?

flash the previous image ViX 2.4-143 then setup as you usually would and make a set of backups. once setup launch a online update and report back what happens.

hi maxwell I have had this box since before there were any clones , I thought the new images all had the bootloader in the folder

No the bootloader is a seperate file

no mate the bootloader is not part of the image it has to be flashed seperate to the image, although if you were using ViX 2.3-204 you are already on the new bootloader, flashing it again would not hurt though. as i said if you could flash the previous ViX 2.4 image then do a online update and see where that leads that would be great.

The DUO-rebooting can be due to a hardware problem (google for it: replace C807 220uF 16v with a new one or better: with 330uF 16v).
The DUO doesn't have many H/W problems, but this is one of them; this simple trick will probably revive your box.

OK it is working after several reboots because it had loaded with loading still showing in the lcd panel apparently upgrading from 2.3.204 to 2.4.149 is a jump to far

as long as your now working again.

thanks rob but that is not the problem it was not rebooting but giving a error on flashing it would not get as far as setting the screen resolution cured now by flashing with 2.4.143

as i said i had a similar issue with the ultimo but i put that down to the plugins i had installed as it was a online update. I have since flashed the same receiver half a dozen times in a attempt to replicate this and could not so i chalked it up to a one of those once in a blue moon things.
