hi guys i updated my uno with the vix image 2.4 15/5/2012 however after the update, i wasnt clearing any channels, even fta, i set up the tuner correctly and in the tuner settings i can see 80% snr and 100% agc, i performed the online updates also but still no luck. i ended up to reverting to the older vix image i had and everything wprks correctly, any ideas what the problem maybe?

Which exact image did you come from initially ?
which exact image did you return to ?.
have you flashed the very latest FPGA upgrade to the receiver ?

If you have not upgraded the FPGA i would advise that you load the original Uno image then go to the plugins menu and upgrade the FPGA then try the latest ViX image which is currently 2.4-151. The reason i say upgrade the FPGA is because it basically flashes the chip(s) that controls the tuner card and is a essential upgrade for new images.

cheers for your help guys installed original vu firmware updated the latest fpga and reflashed newest vix image all good now guys cheers for the help

now would you guys recommend doing online updates or not to bother?

What version of the image are you using now ? as the latest is 2.4-151 so no online updates are available yet. also you have the ability to set the type of updates you want to accept on the image. for example you can set it so that you only receive notification of "stable" updates, although i would recomend that before you do any thing else make a set of backups so that if you need to you can return to a working image.

Blue button> ViX> image manager = makes a FULL backup of your current image.
Blue button> ViX> backup manager = makes a backup of your settings and plugins than you can use to restore your current setup on a new flashed ViX 2.4 image.

cheers for the reply i will look into it, i may just wait if another major update comes out cheers for the help

That's what were here for.

As i said the current stable image is 2.4-151 so if your on a lower image than that it's safe to update to this revision. but i would always recommend you make a full set of backups so that if something does go wrong or you just decide to try another image, you can always return to this current working image in the time it takes the flash the receiver.

ok mate that sounds good but where does the backup save too? i have a usb and a hdd mounted on the box

you can choose where it saves to you'r self in the backup manager and image manager screens. the Default is the HDD if one is mounted but you can change that to the USB as i do by using the left and right buttons either side of the ok button.
