It would be a neat idea to have a feature like the Sky box where if recording series it will automatically store them in a folder. For instance, I have Match of the Day set on autotimer every weekend and the number of recordings looks messy, so if there is a way the box could automatically record to a folder, that would be great.

I understand that there is a way to do it manually but do I create a bookmark in hdd/movie/ or a new directory?

Nice idea for AutoTimers.
At the moment, you can do this manually by setting the Custom Location options (in second screen) on auto timers.

Sorry, replied at the same time.
You could use FTP or telnet & create the folder you want.
Then when setting the auto-timer, set custom location to that.

Managed to get it done manually, would be a great new feature if added to autotimers though!

You already have 2 options in this area:
1- the option to use a dedicated location for any autotimer (as stated above).
2- tags (in the movielist, but also in AT) is an excellent functionality, as it creates virtual folders. Much more transparent than real folders.

Did you figure this out Rahat, as I haven't been able to get the tag function to work?

Or as another option does serienfilm work with VIX? Would this achieve auto folders?

Serienfilm is not compliant with ViX. But the functioanlity you're after is the same as the tags embedded in ViX.

I have the tags set up at the moment. Will it be possible for all this to be automated for series recording?

I created folders via filezilla and then pressed filelist and went into the folders and pressed menu, add bookmark.

Thanks I will look into bookmarks.

To get tags to work I downloaded the tag editor plugin from feeds and have now set some up, however automatic grouping of recordings with similar names would be a great feature to have as standard.

That works already out of the box: tags (and hence grouping) is embedded in ViX.

Forgive my ignorance but I am unable to get tags to work on my autotimers. In the menu I am unable to change tags from none. Please explain how to....thank you.

Not in autotimer: in the movielist use tags (configurable to a button via the contextmenu) and grouped recordings will show.

I get it , if I press the radio button in the movie menu it separates my multiple recordings.

Cheers mate.

I had set up several folders for autotimers to get the same functionality as Sly but once I found this feature I undid the folders - brilliant feature and beats Sly hands down
