deep standby maybe but regular standby just kills the video and audio feeds, in regular standby your receiver is still running at pretty much full power.

Will look at deep standby, never used so dont know difference.

...and depending on the tasks (recording/streaming), maybe using HDD as well.

so deep standby kills box ? unable to record etc?

most receivers including the duo will wake from deep standby 5 minutes before a recording is due to take place and return back into deep standby afterwards.

Ok thanks, just tried deep sleep works ok but take about 2 mins to come back to life. Cheers

Deep sleep actually can save you some money. Say the box uses an average of 20 Watt during stand by versus 0.5 Watt in deep sleep. If the box is in actual use for 4 hours a day that will save you some 400W per day. That is 26KWh a year.

Is there a way of putting box into deep sleep if for example no channel change for xx hours?

ViX has a custom made and very highly customization power timers option where you can set all kinds of timers for auto deep standby and wake up. cant say it's something that has ever really interested me but i know a lot of people use them.

Found the following, is sleep delay the time setting for inactivity?

I leave my box on standby every night [ doesn't most peeps do that with there box at night time ??] i just don't see the reason for deep standby, anyway, 99% in the morning when i come down to my box it is on... iv`e had this problem for easily 6 months, [ and im am on build 649 at the moment, and builds before also gave me this problem ] in fact i`m sure i asked this question on this site about this problem a long time ago and never got to the root problem, anyway i have sent in quite a few debug logs about this, so still waiting to see if any of the guys can see where i`m going wrong within my set-up, as i said, it`s about 99% of the time the box is on in the morning ??? so it could be something in my set-up...cheers !!

for a test, try default vix image (no extra plugins) place in standby at night see what is like in the morning.

At this moment in time andy, i only have crossepg, yweb, and what comes with the image, anyway.. default image meaning [ take ALL plugin off the image i`m running at the moment ?? ]

just flash and setup sat and crossepg, no restore, or install any plugin's.

ok m8, will get round to it, but at the moment i`ve did some tweaking to epg and this morning the box was not on ???

debug log or it's all just guessing.

What box is it you have? And how many sources you importing?

My guess is it's crossepg causing the issue. I myself have it when setting too many sources to download. Sometimes on the solo it does it with only sky UK setting... however, Ultimo is usually fine with about 6 sources, but then that had more memory

You can very well be correct: if Cross causes a crash, Linux will restart E2 and the box will be 'on'. However: in that case a crashlog will be present, and (probably) not all EPG-data will have been populated.

OK Andy, i have flashed a clean image, and downloaded crossepg only m8, so lets see how it goes over the next few days m8 [ i did put my back-up bouquets back on to the new image however ?? ]

Rob van der does m8, it does leave a log but not a crash log, it leaves a debug log, and they have all been sent over to be looked at over the last ccouple of months ??
