Hi,

I have purchased a motorised dish that I am attempting to set up to my duo.

I plan to have 2 dishes connected to the duo -1 fixed at 28.2E and 1 motorised

I have so far done the following:

1) Tuner A to fixed dish (No change was needed)
2) Set Tuner B to Diseqc (Using long/lat from dishpointer)
3) Installed bouquets for Thor (0.8w)
4) Tuned to BBC World
5) WIP - Manually rotate dish / change incline until good signal is received for BBC World on 0.8w.

Now I have 2 questions

1) Is the above the best way in order to set the dish up?
2) How do I resolve the below possible issue?:

For example:

-Wife records a program 1 hour long - Uses tuner A - (Tuner A in use)
-Wife records program 2 which is 2 hours long starting same time as above - Uses diseqc tuner B - (Tuner A and Tuner B in use)
-Program 1 ends - Tuner A now free - (Diseqc Tuner B in use)
-I try to watch foreign satellite - Will not work because Tuner B is in use for the remaining hour of program 2

Is there a way to move the recording on tuner B over to tuner A? How do other people get round this? Have I made the problem clear? lol

Regards,

Rich

Thanks for the reply.

This is going to be frustrating because the wife loves the record button! If Tuner B doesn't get released is there no way to force it over to Tuner A? It seems like an obvious feature that you would want as the motorised dish is there for diversity.

Best to set motor to USALS.

In answer to your question, if the receiver occupies tuner B and tuner A subsequently becomes free, it will not release tuner B.

Once your dish is moving fine and correctly alligned, you can add a diseqc switch so that you have instant switching on the secnd tuner.
See this guide

The box will automatically use the tuner with the fixed dish, if both are free.
However: if tuner a is in use (for watching, streaming or recording) and a new event starts that is not on the same transponder, the other tuner will be used. This is quit logical and desired behaviour.
However: once that tuner is in use, and continuous to be used, the other tuner will necessarily be used for any other event.

In other words: most of the time you'll be fine. But you would be better of to use a twin LNB for the fixed dish and add the motorised dish as explained in the above mentioned how-to.

Stopping the recording and then starting it again will force a swap. Downside is you get a split recording.

Thanks again for the info. I have since set my dish up vis USALS, but am not hitting all sats. Was hopin for some guidance. Here are my results:

45E Y
42E N
36E N
31.5E N
28.2E Y
26E N
23.5E Y
19.2E Y
16E Y
13E Y
10E Y
9E Y
7E Y
4.8E Y
0.8W Y
4W N
5W Y
7W N
30W Y
45W Y

You have a good dish and LNB. Hopefully one of the more seasoned members will confirm if you should be able to obtain those satellites in your area. If so, you need to tweak it a bit more. Press on edges of dish to see which way you need to go. Very fine movements required. You can also make fine movements and see if you get increase. Menu > Setup > Service Searching > Positioner Setup

Vhannibals list is normally updated fairly regularly, you can download from his site vhannibal.net

Lmao I do this nearly every other day because the wife records so much shit.... She goes nuts as she has to go back into movie folder to play the second part of her stuff.

She does not yet know that it's me that does this to her recordings, looool she always blames the box haha
