I am having problems with picture freeze since I got my box. (fta channels). I didn't have this problem on my skyboxf5s on the same satellite feed. Signal strength between 70% and 75% Any Idea how I might sort this?

No improvement. all connections seem to be fine . Picture still freezing. Anything else i could try?

What exactly is happening when you say picture freeze? Did you check alignment/lnb skew? Can you test connected to a different dish / lnb?

The picture just stops. No sound when this happens either. It's as if it's lost the signal. It could come back after 10 seconds or it could be 2 minutes. The dish elevation is approx 22 degrees. The skew is set at 3. I'm in Ireland, more north than south. It would be difficult to try it elsewhere although I could probably if push came to shove. It doesn't happen on the skybox at all. Is the miraclebox more sensitive?

sounds like cable or dish issue, can you try in different location as requested or are you limited with the number of lnb cables like twin =2 boxes.if you removed the skybox any change?

I have two feeds from the dish. One connected to each box. it's a single tuner I have. I will disconnect the skybox and see what happens.

Dish elevation should be 25 degrees for 28.2

Not saying your wrong but this is what I have been using.
Address: cavan
Latitude: 53.9906°
Longitude: -7.3629°

Satellite: 28.2E, 23.5E(c), 19.2E
Elevation: 22.3°
Azimuth (true): 143.5°
Azimuth (magn.): 147.8°

I might fiddle about a bit with it tomorrow, but as I say no problems at all with the skybox on the same feed. I got the impression that these linux boxes were far superior, thus far that hasn't been the case,. The opposite in fact unless of course there may be a fault with mine.

Dish elevation will be different according to location. You can't just set according to a scale on the dish. You have to optimise elevation and azimuth (and LNB skew) manually to get best quality reception.

would a larger dish be any benefit? I'm using 60cm sky dish signal strength as low as 68% and as high as 82%. whats the chances of the tuner in the miraclebox being the problem?

@afterburn - I think I can see your issue - no dish on your house when I look at it in streetview :D - you might want to consider editing your location details somewhat if you value your privacy ;)

I had better get dressed so. Seriously would a larger dish help any or is that signal strength ok. Could it be the tuner?

Signal strength is a rather meaningless measure as the tuners are not scientifically calibrated and one will measure differently than another. You should optimise for best signal quality (SNR) by peaking the dish a millimetre left/right up/down and then adjusting the LNB skew for final tweaking. I'm assuming you're using a standard SKY zone 2 dish (60cm)? That's the minimum size for satisfactory reception.

A couple of examples of channel satellite info. I'm convinced there's a fault with the box as the f5s works perfectly on this set up. if the linux box is supposedly the superior box i would have expected it to perform as least as well as the skybox.

hi there try the box in the cable that is feeding your sky box just to c if it cable issue

Hi afterburn you've not had your box long have you got in touch with WOS looking at your sat images if thats what your getting from your dish then you shouldn't be after the problems of what you are. it may be worth while having your box checked out as it may be faulty.

How would I go about doing this! I've only had it 3 weeks.
