Hi afterburn,
I cant say the tuner in in a skybox f5s is any better or worse than any of the enigma boxes I've used including a miraclebox. Have you got timeshift enabled?

A couple of examples of channel satellite info. I'm convinced there's a fault with the box as the f5s works perfectly on this set up. if the linux box is supposedly the superior box i would have expected it to perform as least as well as the skybox.

Absolutely nothing wrong with those numbers. My less optimised channels come in around 56% SNR and they still don't have any visible issues. Why would you be setting your box to "c" (as per post #17)? You have satellite, not cable.
Have you tried nudging your dish settings as I suggested?

How would I go about doing this! I've only had it 3 weeks.

You need first of all send WOS a email from there website just stating what problems your having and would like to return the box to be checked out. These boxes come with a 2 yr guarantee so if your not happy contact your supplier who will be more than happy to help.

I'll have to check this when i finish work this evening!

Not quite sure what you mean here tony. Can you elaborate please. What i did ref post 17 was took the cable out of the skybox and tried it in the miraclebox (it made no difference). I have 2 cables from the dish. I have only a single tuner in the miraclebox. I have both boxes connected at the moment although I had the miraclebox on it's own at first. It's baffling really.

The SNR of 80% or 72% as shown in your screenshot are both fine and shouldn't lead to pixelation or other breakup of the picture. I have lower figures than that on some transponders (CBS Action) and they still come in fine. How's your Saorview reception (I'm assuming your other tuner is DVB-T)?

No saorview just the satellite. The only tuner in the miraclebox is the DVB S-2 . I have no aerials as I've just built a new house and haven't got around to putting any up, in fact I'm not sure I'll bother at all.

Ok - it's just the Miraclebox has two slots for tuners. I use my Twin as my "testing" box for new images as it's connected to aerial and motorised dish. I've never had a single issue with it as regards picture stability from either DVB-T or DVB-S/S2. Have you tried adjusting your dish slightly to increase the SNR. You should be trying for as near 100% as you can get. Sometimes adjusting the skew on the LNB will get you that last few %.

I might try to adjust it at the weekend. I need to get ladders and a meter organised.

You can use a mobile phone ap to check your signal strength I used Enigma Signal Meter on my Galaxy S3 and it works on both my Duo2 and LX3 just enter your ip 192.168.0.0 or whatever yours is I was up and down the ladders every couple of days trying to get my basic sky mini dish set up

Scenario get Ladders out, climb up ladders, move dish, climb down Ladders, go into room, check signal on TV, go back up ladders move dish again, climb down Ladder go in to room check signal on tv  you get the picture, Solution put Enigma Signal Meter on phone set it up Climb up Ladders Adjust Dish check signal on phone Adjust Dish till you get the best signal while you are up the Ladders Lock Dish in place climb down Ladders put Ladders away as it is now set up Hopefully :D I have not had to get the Ladders out for months since i was able to set it up properly with this Brilliant Free Application

Sounds the business. I'll give that a shot. Certainly sounds like a real help.

it really did the job for me, when I think of all the time I wasted trying to get my dish set up, as it is so much easier when you can see instantly what changes in signal strength you get by just moving the LNB arm instead of the Dish as that was my initial problem the Dish was set correctly but the arm that held the LNB was slightly out of line and I would probably never have realised without the signal meter :D

I have the app downloaded and have logged in so it should be all systems go once I organise a set of ladders. When you say you moved the arm do you mean you moved the actual lnb as in changed the skew of it or did you move the arm itself?

on mine it was the actual arm it moved from side to side only very slightly but enough to knock the signal out of skew as well but mine might have been a one off

funnily enough thinking of it now the arm was that far out I was also picking up some channels from 19E as well as 28.2E lol

Can't do any harm to check it anyway. Hopefully It might help me. What I'd really like to do is bring the box to someone else's house and try it but it's not really an option as I live in the country. Anyway here's hoping!:)

just out of interest how many channels are you picking up on 28.2E as when my dish/arm was out of alignment I was only picking up about 500 now I get 970

Don't know about Enigma Signal Meter, but some apps also have a beep type feature.
I used DMSatFinder:
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.extraweb.android.dmsatfinder&hl=en
Saves you taking the phone out of your pocket while up that ladder...

Thank you for that info judge that seems a nice app, just downloaded it to my phone I presume the beep intensifies as you get a stronger signal and the beep gets slower with a weaker signal

Yes. That's how it works. Safer to hear a longer beep than take a phone out of your pocket while up a ladder & nudging a dish.

I'm getting the 970 at the moment!
