Hi, i'm trying to update the Italian translation for openvix image, It's my first time, don't whip me for errors:D Moreover i don't use some image's features...
The vix-it.po is fully updated (except for errors) and a little bit progress for enigma2-it.po.
Any help by italian guys will be very appreciated
@devs: i don't know if is better to commit the enigma2-it.po file now or waiting for the fully uptaded version. I post the file 'work in progress' for guys who want to collaborate.

Update! In my opinion vix-it.po is complete, any advice/disapproval will be appreciated.
I'm working on enigma2-it.po...

Makes not much difference to us. As soon as you post one, it will be uploaded to the repos. Any image build after that, will contain the updated file.
Only thing is: once a new image has been build, you should update your box and grab the latest po's from there to work on.

Anyway: I now uploaded your files, but we just missed the 65 build :(

Ok, so i continue with work in progress file. No problem for the build 65:thumbsup:

Hi all.
I'm Italian and could be happy to help you in correct translationtranlation. ☺
But I need some instruction (like a quick start guide) because I never did this before.

I see in last release 6.3 that there are a lot of description in English and not in Italian.
Pls tell me how modify your italian langiage to update traslation...and what file I have to download and how to make changes

Thank
Hispa

User interface translation

Hello,
Yesterday I configured a new receiver for one friend. I Installed Openvix 6.6.011, scanned the satellites, set all parameters, finally switched the user interface to italian language because he does not speak english.
And I noted that only very few items are fully (and clearly) translated, most of them are still in english or translation could be better, including the little (but useful) online help at the left of the screen.
What about a possible contribution by me for a better italian translation? Please note that italian is my native language.
Unfortunately I'm not a coder, but if you tell me how to proceed I could try to reach a good result.
I would like to hear the opinion of the Openvix developers. Thanks.

Sorry for delay, but I thought that my thread was missing, did not understood it was moved in a different forum section.
Thank you for your advice, I try to address how to proceed.
I checked again, and there are so many image parts who need to be translated.
I try to help.

OK, just downloaded and installed POEdit and the PO file.
It seems that I must translate only the strings after the \n prefix, adding a new \n before the translation, leaving all non-prefixed strings as they are. Is it correct?
And what about flags like '%s' into a single string?
For example: "\nTimer '%s' disabled!" would become "\nTimer '%s' disabilitato!", right?
If so, it is a long but not so difficult job.
Please advice about these topics, so I can begin. Thanks.

Code:
#, fuzzy
msgid "%a %-d. %b"
msgstr "%a %e %B %Y"
Stuff like that is wrong. The symbols in the bottom line should match the ones in the top line exactly... or it could crash enigma if there is an attempt to display these.

Be sure to properly translate any entry that says "fuzzy".

Code:
%s %d \n %(name)s
Anything like those in the translated string, do not alter them.

Sorry but I'm not sure that I understood correctly.
Your examples are valid only using a normal text editor like, say, Notepad or Notepad++.
But what about POEdit usage?
In POEdit, no fuzzy tags are shown, so I don't know which strings must be translated and which not.
Many strings in the file seem related to the Help messages appearing at the left of the screen selecting menu items, and it would be interesting to translate these too.
Could you please explain better? Thanks.

Well, most (or all...) items marked as "Fuzzy" are already translated, so I suspect that many parts of the GUI can't be modified.
Finally, best leaving English as GUI language.
For me it is not a problem, I always selected English and I'm happy. As mentioned, I looked into this problem after one friend, but it seems almost an unuseful topic. Thanks.

Fuzzy means guessed by a machine... in other words, not translated.
