Quick question, can I couch flash from openvix-hd 90 to the latest image (openvix 98) and then restore setting?

Yes you can but would be best to do a clean install.

I have done it from 97 All seems ok. Only prob for me was that although I had done a backup when I came to restore 97 wasn't showing so I did 89 which was most recent showing
don't know if it matters but on solo2

Build 095 was quite a major update as it was the first image to incorporate all of rossi's HD skin code in the standard ViX image, now you should be just fine to use a backup from images prior to this but if you are comfortable with setting up from scratch you may be able to eliminate the slight possibility of issues creeping in from a settings restore.

i was curious because im using one of his HD skins (also on version 90)and everything is running fine, but now when i go to software update it says "nothing to update"
so i thought any available updates might be just for users that might not have installed an HD skin.

There were 2 version 90's Rossi's HD version with the HD skins and the standard Vix without the HD skins. As of 90 Rossi's HD version of the image was discontinued and it was all incorporated into the standard image as of 95. You are trying to update from a discontinued (no updates available) image. You will need to fresh flash the latest version, preferably with no restore.

Hi guys - I just couch flashed -098 and did a NON restore settings install on my Solo2 because I had noticed my panic button had ceased working. I use it as a short cut back to BBC1 HD to start of ABM lists. It had been working until I went past -095 and the combined HD build and You-VIX skin. Currently on a fresh flash of -098 with only basic items (*.ipk, ABM scan, Cross EPG) on - no You Vix HD skin and getting same problem. That is pressing "0" key clears my Zap list but does NOT return me to first channel in Boquets (101 BBC HD for me). Any ideas? PS AT this stage of my rebuild, the lag in EPG (both starting it and going between pages has noticably disappeared). Going to add the HD skin now.

-098 and adding new BootLogos on Solo2 - reboot - comes up OK for 30 secs and then goes to Standby - backed out Bootlogos (the HD one - 1080) and OK now. Off to Channel 102 for next hour!!!

I just posted on the other thread about EPG lagging - I didn't notice anything quicker going between EPG pages on my solo2 after doing a fresh flash with all defaults (no HD skin) to 098 and just setting ABM and crossepg. I did, however, notice it loaded/displayed the EPG as quick as it once did. Just the going between EPG pages left.
