hi guys

i just want to say thanks for everyone involved on this great image, i really think its the best image out there OE ALLIANCE VIX AND ATV.

i just flashed to apollo 106 and i could se 1080 skin on the feed tried green youvix and boom it looks great.

everyone who is wondering yes 1080 skin available on miraclebox mini.

but am having some issues with IPTV streams they takes to long to buffer and i think its because gstreamer needs to be updated please correct me if am wrong.

got 4.3 ATV image and they got 1.4.4 version and IPTV streams worked just fine and 2 sec buffering.

thanks

Our dev builds based on the new v2.4 OE are using gstreamer 1.4.4 but it has resulted in the total loss of all IPTV function and other media player issues for Vu+ receivers. we know why this has happened (The Vu+ drivers are built on their OE which uses a very old version of gstreamer so they wont work with v 1.4.4).

For now we have ceased work on this dev branch until such a time as we hear back from Vu+ if they are going to update their OE or not as it could result in us stopping support for their hardware due to incompatible drivers.

Should I hold my breath that VU will respond? If they don't update and vix ceases on VU hardware there will be a lot of angry users. I have invested quite a wad on their hardware to date.

There is no danger in us pulling the plug so to speak, but we do need to know what they are doing because they are holding up the images for all other receivers we support, If absolutely necessary we will move on to the next image for every thing else and freeze the Vu+ receivers on Apollo. After all would you really want us to release a Vu+ image that has no streaming abilities at all and severely crippled media player functions ?.

am talking about miraclebox and not vu+
build 107 at the moment gs streamer 0.10.36.

2 days ago tested openatv and it has 1.4.4 gstreamer and everything worked ok .

Phoenix was just mentioning that we have 1.4.4 images but there are issues with vu hence why there is no public build.

It does work fine on mostly all other brands though

Yes I know you were asking about the miraclebox, the problem is that we can't update gstreamer on a manufacturer by manufacturer basis, it's a all or nothing kind of thing. If we do update gstreamer on the GIT it will cause havoc for the Vu+ receivers exactly the same as it has for ATV but they dont care about quality control. so we are holding off for now.

VU+ have been emailed clearly asking their intentions if they're going to move forward with GStreamer 1.4.4, if they don't unfortunately VU+ image's will have to be frozen at some stage in the Future until they do. Using GStreamer 1.4.4 in any VU+ currently results in media playback issues.

Once we know the VU+ situation we'll make a decision about moving on.

Off topic but how come the mini has got 1080 skins and the twin hasnt? :(

It seems strange they would add it for one and not the other.

Is it straight forward for them to add support, maybe if I fired an email they could add it?

I sent one earlier. If anyone else has the Premium Twin, do the same :)

I got a reply back this morning saying they are working on it, tho not sure if it is possible

The VU+ models now seem to have had a driver update in Apollo 113 to 29/12/2014. Do these drivers now support Gstreamer 1.44? Can the GIT now safely move on?

the gstreamer problem isnt drivers (or maybe not so much the drivers)
but its becuase vu use the old dream multimedia gstreamer which needs alot of updating.
all other manufacturers use OpenPLis Gstreamer so there is no issue with those.

I always thought (or shall I say presumed) that drivers, bootloaders and kernels are supplied via manufacturers, all other files in the image are done by the likes of you yourselves (I include OE-A core in that btw).

Reading this, it looks like gstreamer is provided via manufacturers as well?

I don't wish to over complicate things just curious as I thought we were just waiting on a driver or kernel update or something from VU before Vix can move on.

we are waiting for vu to update the branch of gstreamer they use from schwerkraft.

maybe new drivers/kernel edits will come due to that, but first gstreamer needs to be sorted.

From what I understand it's because the Vu+ core uses a lot of libraries going back to the DMM days such as the version of Gstreamer they use, they then build their hardware drivers specifically for this old core so when we try to use those drivers in our images which are bang upto date they dont work properly, it's just the price for being upto date.

We are now sitting on our arses waiting for Vu+ to update the version of Gstreamer that they build their drivers against before we can update to the new v2.4 core which has the latest version of Gstreamer already in it.

I noticed the VU drivers fix is, "improve media playback."

Could this not be VU starting to update their gsstreamer core, or is it actually to fix another known problem because I haven't noticed any problem with media playback (not to say one doesn't exist, however)!?!
