Moving Flats... No Sat Dish.. Advice?

Hi all,

I have a Vu+ Duo 2 box brought from WoS. I'm currently moving out of a flat which has a dish installed, to another flat which doesn't on the 1st floor. I can't install a dish due to it being a leasehold and have explored the possibility of a portable dish but this wouldn't work.

I do have the option to have my box connected to a dish in a property 150+ miles away, with an ethernet cable and 100+ Virgin Media broadband connection (not the best upload compared to others).

Can anyone help me in this dilemma?

One option so far is to stream externally (I am only bothered about streaming in Standard Def) - what is the best software/tools to make it as slick as possible. How can I safeguard my box to prevent it getting hacked?

Do I have any other options available?

Why won't a portable dish work?
You can get dishes, that don't even look like dishes. They look like flat panels, cost a bit more, but no one would know it was a dish.

There is a dish from Selfsat that might do the trick it can be configured to have several lnb's is both small and compact and there is also a window version.....just a thought

If you have VM broadband in the flat you should be able to get cable channels. You would need to get a plug in cable tuner for the Duo².

Guys, thank you for your responses. I wasn't sure I was going to get any.
So looking like portable dishes is a popular choice and one I should explore further. Thank you. So where would you attach it or would you have it standing inside the window?

I was able to find this web site that offers the Selfsat dish and a link to the window bracket, its all in german, I hope this helps

Thank you for this. I've checked this and unfortunately the closest window is the kitchen one. But it's open plan so it's fine. I just need to understand whether it will work practically and how to wire it up. I will take pictures and post.

I wonder whether a portable sat dish will work inside the building rather than outside. If I use the window bracket, I will still have to leave the window open for the cables, no? If so, this is a safety hazard. The area isn't the safest, unfortunately.!
