Hi all I have two boxes, an expeed lx3 and a vu duo I have installed the NFS setup and been able to view and play back recordings from each box through my network.

My problem is that randomly when I try to access recording on one box from the other I get a message saying that the directory I am trying to access does not exist.

At the moment when I look in the network neighbourhood both my boxes are missing and all that shows is my router. This is strange because I can access my lx3 recordings from my vu duo but not the other way round.

If I look in mount viewer both my boxes are shown, both have a green tick and are active. I have gone into the mount and saved. It then says mount already exists update and save. After doing that to both mounts I restart the box but still the mounts don't work.

Does anyone know if I need to do anything else or no why I might keep loosing the mounts.

1- Has NFS been setup on both boxes?
2- Have you mount setup as 'autofs'?

Sometimes it helps to delete the browser cache from etc/enigma2 before opening the network browser.

Hi thanks for the reply.

yes both boxes have NFS set up and both mounts are set as autofs.

It does normally work but as I said last night the mount to my vu duo said it did not exist. This morning it is all working as it should, the only thing that has happened through the night is at around 04.00 am I set both boxes to do a reboot then update auto bouquet maker, epg and then do a back up.

My network neighbourhood still only shows my router though:confused:

Hi,
when you say network neighbourhood do you mean Windows? If yes for this the CIFS/Samba server must be installed and running.

ciao

No the network neighbourhood on my receiver .

Menu, system, network, mounts setup, network browser.

I haven't ever had samba installed.

reboot boxes and recheck box ip as i missed that one, sometimes a reboot clears issues.

My E2 boxes haven't discovered each other in Network Browser for a long time now even though NFS is correctly installed on all boxes, i can still access mounts between them by manually adding them through mount manager, I don't have SMB installed on my boxes. And last week I installed a new Asus AC87 router, they still don't show, but they show in NFS browser in Kodi on my shield.
So to summarise NFS installed on all boxes and drives inter-mounted and working fine but don't show up in Network Browser even if I delete network cache.

My mounts have been working fine then today I can access my lx3 from the vu do but I can't access the Vu do from the lx3.

Just wondering if I try to access one of my boxes and it was on stand by would that stop my access to its recordings?

Hi,
when you can reach box B with box A it does not automatically mean that you must be able to access box A with box B. It is always a client-server system and if one dox does not have a running server it cannot be reached. Check if samba/cifs and/or NFS is running on both boxes.

ciao

Yes both boxes have NFS installed. This morning I can access both recordings from a to b and b to a that's why I thought it might be when one box was in stand by.

'Standby' or 'on' makes no difference in this respect.
Obviously when a box is in 'deep sleep' it will not be available.

It might be the case that if you are using DHCP, and a box reboots and is given a different IP address as it comes back up, that the other system would lose sight of it as it may still be trying to use the other, old IP address.
Given that these boxes aren't usually looked on as portable setting a static address would always make more sense (to me at least).

Are you using DHCP?

Right you could be onto something. In adapter settings use DHCP is set to yes.

I have changed it to no pressed green to save but when I go back into adapter settings use DHCP is set to yes again. I have also restarted the box after saving.

There might be an issue with that in your image; this has been fixed for the next build.
You can also assign a fixed IP to your STB in the router setup, and leave DHCP in the box enabled.

Well, you can't just turn it off. You do need to set a (valid) static IP address.

Yes I set it to no then put in the ip gateway address and all the other bits then save. It just goes back to DHCP set as yes but as said previously this could be a problem with the image and resolved in the next build .

I just flashed openvix-4.1.016.release to check for you, and indeed: DHCP can't be switched off.
As I said: this has been fixed for the next build (that's due to be released soon).

I've just flashed 4.2.001

I can now turn DHCP off in the adapter settings. I have set everything back up after the flash and I can now see my duo in the network neighborhood. Unfortunately my Lx3 isn't there so I still can't get the mounts working .

I have installed NFS and removed and reinstalled twice but it still doesn't show up. Could there be a reason why it doesn't work on my Lx3 on the latest image .
