How can I transfer .ts recording to exterbal USB NTFS drive

There is no encryption on Freeview. It's the stream as broadcast that is recorded.
I've never had a problem playing a recording with vlc on a Linux desktop. And I've just copied an HD file over to my Android phone - it' still going fine after 15 mins.

By this, do you mean that you have copied these files onto the et8500 from elsewhere, and they have problems on the et8500?

You're using FTP for the file transfer. Have you set it to binary transfer mode? If you're doing it in text mode then the copy will be incorrect in places, and may well show the symptoms you describe.

I Played the recordings using VLC on my windows laptop and then used an Android Media player using KODI and the same problems occurred.

The files was transferred from ET8500 using the move command on the box straight to another attached usb NTFS hard disk (no ftp) so I can play it on other media.

The media from other sources was on the NTFS hardisk which I connected to ET8500 Which had prblems playing them on the Android media player and my windows laptop these ather recording form various sources had no issues.

As mentioned I was not using FTP software, but used the button on the box in the media section /file explorer to move files to attached usb drive. So not sue where the binary bit comes in?

Any chance you could upload one of them to Dropbox or GoogleDrive (....) so that other can have a look at the actual *.ts file?

Sorry - my confusion.
I just browsed past posts mentioning filezilla, and that you couldn't find the ntfs-3g package, so presumed you weren't using an ntfs drive directly.

I Will try to upload a file....that's another learning curve as not to shure what the max upload size is as the recording is in HD. I will try a short recording in both HD and SD and try to figure how its uplaoed or zipped.

The ntfs -3g I was not to sure if I have that installed as I could not find it under plugin downloads so assumed its alreaday installed?
The way I moved recorings whch was recored under normal mode (not descramble ECM ETC), I went into - menu, plugins, media scner, selected my hard dirve, view movies(folder) - the selected the recording and clicked the option below to move and selected the destination which is an external NTFS usb drive.

I'm having problems uploading HD recorded terrestrial files on this site for everyone to test the issues I'm having. Just to confirm that SD files work ok when recorded and played on other devices when transferred but HD has the issues I describe. I played a few HD recordings on my lap top and pad and the same issues occurred also the other issue I noticed is that volume is cut out during tv adverts.

They will be far to big to upload to this forum - hence the comment to put them on Dropbox, GoogleDrive (or similar) and post a link here (wrapped in a CODE block)

I have not used dropbox or google drive before, so I will make an attempt.

I have uploaded this zip file for testing

Code:
 [URL]https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B4fo6CGlP103NWZsNG5NNGMtcDQ&usp=sharing[/URL]

Would appreciate if anyone can test this file out side of et8500 like windows pc, vlc, KODI, android boxes etc. I will try and load another

On my laptop, android media box and kodi I get stutter, freezing, audio drop outs, out of sync picture with audio and even TV adverts are muted sometimes

May be something I'm doing but when I try to get something from either of those links all I can get is an empty folder (which Google insists on zipping before downloading....).

And note that I did say to warp such links in a CODE block - there's a forum rules about links to non-forum locations (so I've done it for you).

I have never used google drive before, I was asked to upload the file to google or drop box which I have never used before. I uploaded a zip file so assumed it would be easier ?
I appreciate you have some work on the link,(not sure what is ment by warp code etc). However do the files work and have you had the chance to analyse it ?

A movie file is already compressed, so zipping it won't have much effect on its size.

That "warp" should have been "wrap". If you add a link to a post, highlight the link then press the "#" icon in the buttons at the top.
As for the file -there isn't one. All that I can find is an empty directory. Perhaps you shared the wrong bit?

No, those only affect playback.
Recording effectively just dumps the received broadcast stream to a file. It is what it is.

Thanks - With bit of trial and error I have managed to do it from the box with out FTP software etc. I enabled samba and FTP on the box then went down to plugins and used option to scan media.

I then selected media and had the option to move and select my NTFS USB drive to transfer to.

Just to let you know I have also now managed to get access to the file structure in the Linux box from windows pc. I conected the receiver directly t the rooter which my pc is connected too and got access to files (crash log files in this case) with out FTP client, hope I that's correct?

Exactly how are you connecting?
If you are using windows, you should be able to goto "my computer" then in "network" should be listed your receiver, if you select this you should then see, "Hard Disk" and "root" if you select "hard disk" you should then see a folder "Movie", all your recordings are here and can be accessed, played, copied directly from your receiver to your pc.

That's correct its what I did
