How do you create a directory for organising recordings? I have managed to create one once I have a recording (by moving it) but I want to create a location for within an autotimer before I have any recordings and there doesn't seem to be an option to create a new one. I can do it via ftp but that is a bit of a long way round. I added a file manager plugin but that also doesn't have a "create directory" option either.

Also, is there an autofile plugin for recordings? - I couldn't find one.

Thanks in advance.

Keith

If you haven't found it yet - press Menu when you are in your auto timer list.
You can also select the directory to store recordings in each autotimer - set Use a custom location to yes and press OK on Custom location and then select the target directory.

Go into the Movie list and press Menu.
Option 2 is "Create Directory" (it will create one as a sub-directory of where you currently are in the list).

Having done that you'll want to add it to the Location/Bookmarks list so that it shows up as a possibility in the "Custom Location" option in timers.

To do that, go into the directory you've just created an press Menu.
You'll see an "Add bookmark" option. Go to it and press OK. (If it were already on the bookmark list the options would be to "Remove bookmark").

Thanks both for your replies. I have found a few "hidden" menus by pressing "menu" when already doing something (such as setting timers) and a whole load of extra options appear which has given me the extra tools I need. I was expecting something like "create directory" to be on one of the coloured buttons. It also took a while to work out that you can only select "bookmarks" when selecting the directory to record into, which needs to first be created.

By the way Birdman - I am another ex-Toppy user.

Thanks.

Keith.

I think the good thing about the Toppy was not so much the inherent machine as the fixes and added software created by people such as Mystuff - only possible because Topfield made the information and tools available.

Plus a certain robot-named individual who patched the OS in dozens of places and added numerous extensions to make the machine reliable.
