In PLi I was used to the automatic mounting of any (USB/CF)-device that I plugged in: ready to use a few seconds after connecting it.
It seems that in ViX this automatic-mount has been replaced by a manual mount (in devicemanager), that has to be followed by a box (or is it a GUI?)-restart.

Is this correct?
And if so: why this time-consuming change?

yes thats correct every device nmust be manually mounted via device manager

also how u connecting a CF to a vu

i get a crash when i plug in a usb card reader

why is because u can allocate devices to what ever u like

for e.g i have a sata hdd mounted as /media/usb

other wise an auto mount would allocate it to /media/hdd

because during testing we found, it was problematic and you could not control where the auto mount actually mounted things. like if you attach usb hdd, and have a internal hdd the internal hdd would not default to /media/hdd but USB would. we prefer to control where things are mounted.

OK, I can understand that.
But the problem introduced with that, is the necessary reboot (or GUI-restart?). That can't be altered?

no that cant be as the gui restart is what registers the change without it no change will be implimented

i will see what i can do, i do have an idea ;)

Is there a chance for mounting based on UUID rather than sdax, sdbx etc?
