Build my own Vix image

Well that is not a fact. When I build 60 boxes fresh sometimes some of them fail. Then clean the recipe that stops the build and then they are ok. Cleaning the recipe is always the first thing to try.
Ah. That cleans out the build environment for a recipe.
But that should be per-machine (it always was for me) so I'm surprised it could make any difference,

I've tracked down why I can't find the code for the error message anywhere - it doesn't actually exist.

I was writing a Perl script this afternoon and had to remind myself how the -p option worked:

Code:
-p causes Perl to assume the following loop around your program, which
         makes it iterate over filename arguments somewhat like *sed*:

           LINE:
             while (<>) {
                 ... # your program goes here
             } continue {
                 print or die "-p destination: $!\n";
             }
So something in a failing recipe is using perl -p .....

EDIT: None of the perl commands in the run.do_install file have changed between the 6.6 (OE 5.4) and 6.7 (OE 5.5) releases.

It's only the Zgemma images that are failing for me. Has anyone else managed to build a 6.7 image for a Zgemma yet

Yes!. …………..
Give me a box and I will build and check tomorrow

I have tried building an openATV image and it fails at the same point, so could be either the OE build environment or my Ubuntu 24.04

@BrianG61UK - yes the change is 99% in the OE-A version.

Ref the guys running home builds - I have been running builds on OE-A 5.5 for many months, and I have to say its been the most painless transition.
Yes, a few changes in the variables and rework of the softcams but straight forward.
I have boxes covering most architectures and not experienced issues.
..and yes, I am running Ubuntu 24.04 which I wouldn,t use other than for image building(my view)
I took on a new box recently and the issues were not in OE-A but E2.
So if you are having issues, I would delete the current setup and run a new Build-Environment and setup anew.

How are you getting 6.7 builds? Surely just using OE 5.5 will mean you build a 6.6.x image but using OE 5.5 instead of OE 5.4?

The version number gets changed when we switch oe-a-core branch. Nothing to do with enigma.

And by the way, official ViX is still being built on 22.04 (including 6.7), and will keep being used until what is being build requires newer server software.

Later Today, I'll try to delete then re-clone the OE-5.5 Git and try the ZGemma build again using Ubuntu 22.04 this time, then let you know

Wel Twol is building on 24.04. I am just too busy to update the server so if I can go until 6.8 without updating I will. 22.04 has full support until 2027.

Well, the ZGemma build succeeded using Ubuntu 22.04 and stranger, I rebuilt the Vuultimo4k image and this time the Wireguard VPN plugin worked as well. So something strange was happening with my Ubuntu 24.04

Great! I would stick with the system that works for you.
On both my office PC (running linux Mint) and build PC (running Ubuntu), I have multiple versions installed, so can flip if necessary between older and new versions.
The office PC also has Windows11 installed for the rare occasions I need to use Windows.
I could probably ditch Ubuntu, but as its the recognised system for building Enigma images, safer to stay with it.

6.7 doesn't seem to build here for any box.

error: calculate_dependencies_for: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for openvix-base:
python3-tmdbsimple

Anyone knows why this happens?

There was no problem building 6.6 previously. All I did was:
git checkout 5.5
make update

Did I forget something?

Using Ubuntu 24.04LTS as the build box, any Zgemma image build failed at building the base-files see post #712 Is this similar to your problem and if so, are you using the earlier Ubuntu 22.04 which works for me

I don't see that here: http://openvixdev.satellites-xml.org/dev-build.php

this is the bb for openvix-base and no mention of tmdbsimple ... have you over-ridden or changed it?
I also did a grep on OE-A 5.5 and no mention of python3-tmdbsimple
https://github.com/oe-alliance/oe-alliance-core/blob/5.5/meta-oe/recipes-distros/openvix/image/openvix-base.bb

${PYTHON_PN}-tmdbsimple is an RDEPENDS of tmdb plugin (enigma2-oe-alliance-plugins.bb), RDEPENDS of enhancedmoviecenter (enigma2-plugin-extensions-enhancedmoviecenter.bb) and RDEPENDS of oe-alliance-feeds.bb. Apart from that, nothing. And enigma2-plugin-extensions-tmdb is an RDEPENDS of openvix-enigma2.bb#L54. No idea why he is getting the error though... no one else is.

https://github.com/search?q=repo:oe-alliance/oe-alliance-core -tmdbsimple&type=code

I have no modifications and never seen "python3-tmdbsimple" before, had to google what it is.

I guess there is no other option but start from the beginning.

There is no difference between 22.04 or 24.04, error is exactly the same.

I'm using a laptop and running Ubuntu 22.04 / 24.04 in Virtualbox, Windows host. Building just takes little bit longer..
