Ok Thanks. First I enabled Debug logs and restarted gui.so lets initially try this ......
would be easier if you use something like putty & filezilla to stop the box and copy whilst installing the attached file.
1, use putty to establish session and type init 4 (space between)
2. in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components rename Timeshift.pyc to xTimeshift.pyc
3. copy file (Timeshift.py) to /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components
4. in putty enter init 3 (space between)
hopefully will not crash but would like to see debug log if you have debug entries with "[Timeshift][Timeshift] filelist:" at start of entry .. you might also see this message ....... [Timeshift] Merging records failed!"

Yes. And in my case works fine toowebif is simply ipaddress box in browser

Sounds a bit similar to my experience. But are you saying that you never upgrade vix any more?If you go back 3 or 4 years on here I was having a really bad time with my VU+ Uno4KSE.
I was on OpenVIX and asking for a lot of help because it kept crashing and I'd lose everything on the HDD.
I even bought a new HDD to replace it but that was failing and I was trying different versions of OpenVIX when new ones came out but all failed.
I was going through the process of sending it back when a nice chap from WOS asked me if I'd tried an alternative Image which I hadn't.
I put one on and all my problems were solved, my Uno4K just didn't like OpenVIX for some reason.
I also use Fire Sticks around the house with the E2 plugin and they work brilliantly.
One of my sayings is "If it ain't broken don't fix it" which means I still have that first alternative image version on my machine because it works and every now and then I make a backup which goes onto my PC HDD.
I know it takes time but my advice is try another image and as soon as it all works make a backup image and stick with it.
so not sure if this will work ... if not delete and rename xTimeshift.pyc backOk Thanks. First I enabled Debug logs and restarted gui.
All done as requested. The box stopped showing TV when I logged in and typed init 4 and restarted when I typed init 3.
two debug files produced - I think one was when debug logs enabled/restart occurred. Other probably after init 4.
I then did a Timeshift record on a programme near to end (ie short!). It did not crash but displayed the message you expected [Timeshift] Merging records failed.
The second debug log also was updated and doubled roughly in size.
The offending "deleted" file strings appear in the trace dump list!
"20240129 1849 - CNEWS - Face à l'info.eit", "20240129 1849 - CNEWS - Face à l'info.ts.sc", "20240129 1854 - CNEWS - Face à l'info.ts", "20240129 1854 - CNEWS - Face à l'info.ts.ap", "20240129 1854 - CNEWS - Face à l'info.ts.meta",
But I can't find the filename on my box - especially in movie or .trash! Looking forward to your conclusions
Couple of other suspicions:
Even with timeshift disabled, the timeshift and livebuffer files in the timeshift folder seem to be updated, at least some of the time.
When I use timeshift (record to end of prog), I always end up with a file of the prog ending at the epg end time and a second file with 4mins of the prog. My margin after recording is set to 5mins. When I record without timeshift, I end up with just one file which presumably includes set margins? This difference is a bit counter-intuitive for me. May be red herring but just thought I'd say.
That's it

Thanks. All done.so not sure if this will work ... if not delete and rename xTimeshift.pyc back
so copy attachment as before to /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components and provide log
Thanks…need to think about it a little more! Thanks. All done.
2 debug logs - first after update, second after very brief timeshift record. Still two recordings, 0 mins (!) and 4 mins.
Btw, both recordings have same name, but second one is actually part of the following prog.
NO error msg on screen this time. Actually, I switched to PVR to view files and when I closed PVR, the err msg DID appear - I don't think it was delayed in that way last time...
Over to you...

Ok, thanks Twol. I'll switch back to the original Timeshift.pyc a bit later today...Thanks…need to think about it a little more!
i would leave it….as it doesn,t crashOk, thanks Twol. I'll switch back to the original Timeshift.pyc a bit later today...

Can I take it you are using KODI with the Firesticks?
Incidentally I think I have established beyond reasonable doubt that the KODI files in the .kodi folder on my E2 are now redundant as Android KODI (Omega 21.2) appears to use the OpenWebIF to connect (unless the files are needed for a non-Android remote platform!).

Even better! Thanks.i would leave it….as it doesn,t crash

Thanks. Is OpenBH functionally similar to OpenVix? Not keen to start a new UX, but noted in case we give up and I have to!I had months of problems with OpenVIX and different release versions and then tried an alternative image (OpenBH) because WOS asked me to before sending the machine back, I've never had a problem since then with the OpenBH image (openbh-vuuno4kse-release-5.1.012.000).
I also haven't updated that new image to a new version because it's working.
I could link you to my image to try since my wife has no problems with it (main user).
Yes I have 4x Firesticks in the house running KODI and the E2 plugin.
Funnily enough my Uno4K only works properly with KODI version 19.4 on the Firesticks, any other version and I don't see everything eg the EPG may not show on the E2 plugin or I might not see all the channels in the channel list.
19.4 works perfectly.
I also use KODI on the Firesticks to access my NAS around the house, works great for me.

Yes I do. Thanks. Although OpenBH 5.1.012 is available via Image Manager Downloads too, I see.I've been on VU boxes for well over a decade and used to experiment all the time.
IMO you can make all the images basically look like each other.
It's that easy putting a new image on, if you mess and don't like it you just put the old 2,9gb image back on (what the hell?).
Mine is 106 meg.
I presume you know how to do it with a USB stick?
If you look at the openbh git you will see where the bulk of the code comes from…so Yes, we work closely together..so if openbh works for somebody then so will openvix…. And Yes, I have worked on providing code changes to fix issues for both OpenViX and OpenbhYes I do. Thanks. Although OpenBH 5.1.012 is available via Image Manager Downloads too, I see.
I will keep it in mind. would have to downgrade all the KODIs too, I guess. At least my current image is no longer nearly 3GB. Something weird happened that day, I think! Current image is about 800MB.
Offer appreciated though...
so if openbh works for somebody then so will openvix
A question, do you use the web interface for everything? (Rather than remote?Even better! Thanks.
Btw, I ran a KODI client earlier. Worked fine but log shows
"GET /web/currenttime HTTP/1.1" 200 82 "-" "Kodi/21.2 (Linux; Android 9.0; AFTKA Build/PS7697.4800N) Android TV/9.0.0 Sys_CPU/armv7l App_Bitness/32 Version/21.2-(21.2.0)-Git:20250115-d1a1d48c3c"
14:23:20.4476 [eServiceFactoryDVB] lookupService getService failed!
14:23:20.4768 [eServiceFactoryDVB] lookupService getService failed!
But the error part is repeated many dozens of times after that and elsewhere in the log. Oddly I think this one is literally just asking for the time!

I don't generally use the web if. Mostly vix direct connect to main tv via hdmiA question, do you use the web interface for everything? (Rather than remote?
