This usually happens when you draw some stuff in threads and there are overlapping draws...
Have you tried without backdrop? Just to test...

i tested full version with backdrop disabled and i cant reproduce the problem. drawing is done in the main thread... not the downloading thread.

i tested with vu+ zero. had to disable backdrop dimming because it slows down the box drastically. everything is much slower than on dm900. but i could not create rendering distortions.
thought about what could be different between dm900 and dm920, and the only thing that came to my mind was the rescue loader. my box still has the one that was put on in the factory. but i dont know whether a newer rescue loader (if it existed) would make a difference.
what i also saw again: browsing thru the plutotv vod movies on vu+ zero is noticable faster than on dm900.

Yes... PlutoTV is slower on dm900 due to the missing hardware acceleration of alphablending.
Vu zero is very old gen box so it cant handle dimming effects by software.
Dm920 have larger video memory than 900. And difference in the drivers and framebuffer. Thats why maybe works fine for me...

yes, that's probably the reason. i updated the rescue loader from 103 to 104 (same latest version as DM920)... no difference.
again... my conclusion is that dm9xx is not the best box for open images.... and will probably never be. so, i will switch to vu+ hopefully soon.

Vu+ has no support either. Have issues with audio passthrough. Have limited audio formats support. So not best box either...
I have gigablue quad 4k pro with is close to vuplus but have more ram, more audio formats support, passthrough works fine.... But well it have other issues...

No support = no new updates from the manufacturer.
Not for several years (but that may change).
Personally I like Vu hardware though, but my setup is pretty basic.

No issues with playback on my side with gbquad4kpro.

well, the vu+ and dream development teams no longer exist, so we should not expect any updates.
on gbquad4kpro playback jittered after pause or jumps. also i was not able to flash the box with usb-stick. tried a couple different ones that worked on vu zero. no success. that annoyed me and i sent it back. only tested the latest version of teamblue that i could flash without usb stick.
regarding vu+... i only have a basic setup (box + tv) as well. so, i hope to be fine.

Usb flashing………Flashing on pro is same as dreambox through the web access .
teamblue image is basic (manufacturer like image)
An issue with 50/60 htz was fixed on openvix image.
On playback did you use number keys or ?

if i recall correctly i used pause, fast forward, fast backward and number keys. i think the problem only happened occasionally, so i can't say which keys caused the problem.
now, how do i know that flashing is done thru web access... the instructions i found all said usb stick.

after scrolling now works nicely... how would i fix the skin implementation? for the embedded skin i could have a look at the plutotv plugin... but how do i ship the e2-darkos skin without asking the skin owner to add it to the skin? i'd like to stay independent and ship it together with the plugin.

Hmm well you cant completly make it independent. The only independent part can be the embedded skin.
It always will need to add something to particular skin so to work correct.
I can add the screens in DarkOS once they are ready. But if you want to support another skins the only way is contact skin owner....

thanks for the offer, i already thought that there is no concept for that. i will just add a default skin to my skin dir and will load the e2-darkos skin if this one is active and the default one for all other skins. dont want to bother skin owners when i feel i want to change something.

But still you need to add some stuff in DarkOS.... Not matter what will put in your plugin code. Otherwise it will use your default for DarkOS too...
Other option is to detect if DarkOS is active and to load your plugin DarkOS skin. But that is more like a hack and not real solution.

Well there is reason to believe there may be new activity from Vu+ in 2026.

Well you can add your additions for dark skin in your plugin and ship in the ipk. I can post more details how later.
