This guide will (hopefully!) help you add a Xbox One USB TV Tuner to your Zgemma H9.2S and maybe others models, so you can stream, watch and record UK terrestrial TV. Once it's set up you'll have a new tuner listed in the OpenVix settings alongside your others. If I find the time I'll add some pics but it's all pretty self-explanatory.

WARNING: I've discovered that this might break STANDBY mode on your box. You can see this thread for more info.

Pre-requisites:

  • Xbox TV Tuner

There are loads of these available on eBay for around a tenner. The tuner I have is model 1611. I can't guarantee this guide will work with different models, but I have no reason to believe it won't either.

  • Spare USB Port

I don't think it matters if it's USB 2 or USB 3. I think the tuner is only USB 2.

  • OpenVix 6.8.003

I only tested this on the latest version of OpenVix. It might not work on earlier versions, but again I have no reason to believe it won't.

  • An internet connection

You'll have to be able to connect your Zgemma box to the internet to download the drivers for the tuner. I'm not going to describe how to do that in this guide.

Here's the guide:

1. Connect your Zgemma box to the internet, if it isn't already.

2. Press Menu > Plugins > Download Plugins (green button).

3. Move down the list of plugins to Drivers, press OK, then move down the list of drivers and press OK on these two drivers to install them:
  • dvb-usb-mn8847x
  • dvb-usb-dib0700

4. Once the plugins are installed, turn your box off, plug in your Xbox TV Tuner and turn your box on again.

5. Press Menu > Setup > Tuners & Scannings > Tuner Setup. You should see a new tuner called Xbox TV Tuner. Select the Xbox TV Tuner and press Select (green button).

6. Set Configure DVB-T to On, Country to United Kingdom and leave Region alone. Then save (green button).

7. Now all you have to do is scan for new channels. You do this by pressing Menu > Setup > Tuners & Scannings > Automatic Scan. You should see the new tuner listed here. You can scan just for the new tuner or all your tuners, it's up to you.

I didn't see any results for channels until the bar hit about 40-45% so don't worry if nothing shows up to begin with.

That's it.

Troubleshooting:

If you unplug the Xbox TV Tuner you might find it's not available the next time you plug it in. In that situation repeat steps 5 and 6. You shouldn't have to scan again for channels or turn the box off and on again.

For a DVB-T(2) tuner, at least in the UK, you will se a selection of transmitters.
If you choose the one you are using (assuming you know it...), it will only scan the frequencies used by that one.

If you dpn't know your transmiter you can find it via:
