What type of support thread are you creating?
Possible bug
What OpenViX Image build number are you using?
6.8.006
Have you tried re-flashing WITHOUT settings restore?
YES
Have you tried re-flashing WITH a settings restore?
YES
After updating to version .006 my PVR started bootlooping. After quite long debugging session I finally managed to find the culprit. If I remove this line from settings everything works correctly.
Code:
config.usage.swap_time_remaining_on_vfd=2

Never seen that line - which plugins and skins have you installed? ….long press blue button and then yellow will show user installed plugins

Not a plugin I have installed. This is setting for Settings / User interface / Front panel display / Settings / Show Time Remaining/Elapsed.

The opinion had following four possible values: Remaining, Elapsed, Elapsed & remaining and Remaining & elapsed. This is third value for that option. I assume that fourth would also crash, i.e. the ones which shows both elapsed and remaining time.

First two values don't seem to work either, those only change the +/- character in the display but the time shown is always the same remaining value.

Anyway, my installed plugins are:
Enigma2-plugin-extension-bitrate
Enigma2-plugin-extension-epgrefresh
Enigma2-plugin-extension-netspeedtest
Enigma2-plugin-extension-aboutboxbranding
Nano
Packagegroup-base-smbfs-server

Hello @twol ,

is there going to be any code changes to fix this (RemainingToText.py) ?

This crash is back with 6.8.007.

Alternative bug instance that I have also submitted as

With 6.8.007 I get a repeating Enigma2 crash after just some 5-10 seconds uptime. After Enigma self-relaunches, it crashes again. Total boot cycle is some 17 seconds :-(

Luckily only Enigma crashes, not the whole OS, so getting logs via SSH is possible.

The log shows:

========== Enigma2 log ends ==========

Looking at the crash line `RemainingToText.py` as a hint and a message on the Finnish forum about `config.usage.swap_time_remaining_on_vfd` having crashed for some users a bit earlier, I spotted the setting `config.usage.swap_time_remaining_on_osd=3` in my own settings. Changing that to 1 removed the bootloop.

Curiously, my error with RemainingToText.py is about "too many values":
ValueError: too many values to unpack (expected 2)

while Orlandox's and milotyn's examples were
not enough values to unpack (expected 3, got 2)

So, I think that something in the calling parameters in the upstream functions or the formatting parameters for this function have changed during the years, and now some previously legitimate values get misinterpreted/mishandled.

(My previous OpenViX version was 6.7.017, and no problems with that)

This crash is back with 6.8.007.

With what settings?

I fetched the two .py files from the commit to the live router, and replaced the .pyc files there.

All four settings options (remaining, elapsed, remaining+elapsed, elapsed+remaining) seem to work both for the GUI and the LCD display.
