Build my own Vix image

@lincsat,
The softcam issue can be aggravating, so I just let the CLI AI fix it. Easier for me.
See the attached zip file which has my meta-local along with instructions generated when it was fixed. Now no softcam issues.

And also note /etc/issue has some extra characters that are not needed which may or may not cause problems:
Code:
Welcome to OpenViX \n \l
openvix 6.9 \n \l

Type 'root' to login with superuser privileges (no password will be asked).
I do not see an easy way to fix the /etc/issue properly, but it can be gotten around if needed. For a single personal build, just open /etc/issue and delete the unwanted characters.

Your offline site is actually online and working, or at least it is here. The Wrynose build is a bit more intensive at least it seems on my older computer. This may be why the site appeared to be offline. I always try to check them and see if they are actually dead or if the problem is in my build machine.

That download is still failing in the build, I managed to download the file in chrome but only going through an American VPN. So I dropped it into the build and it's built OK.

I haven't been able to build a dev image for my Gigablue UHD UE 4K since 6.8.007.014 and it keeps failing with the following:

enigma-info.bb is run for all distro's and receivers, so I can only suggest checking that all your openvix.conf/site.conf values are correct...... somewhere its finding a null path.
Maybe (if you haven,t done so) also delete the build directory for gb7252 and see if that builds.

Thanks for the reply. I've created a new build environment but get the same result.
I've deleted the windows partition and currently installing 26.04 on it, so will try from scratch.

That's odd. Those messages come from using rust coreutils, but the build was changed a while ago to use the GNU ones (gnucp, gnurm, etc...) if they are there - which they should be.

I don't understand why, if the build changed a while ago, why mine is different and using rust coreutils and not using the Gnu coreutils?

As it happens, I made a complete balls of deleting my windows drive and deleted the Ubuntu 24 partition instead.
I will be starting completely from scratch with Ubuntu 26.04 and just want to make sure I'm using the correct repository.
Is this the correct build instructions at the bottom of the page?

Should be I updated this file this morning.
The “Update apparmor profile“ does work thankfully on 26.04

note: if you have overrides in /meta-local/recipes-local and you are using OE-A 5.6 then you probably will have change the file, path as there are some significant changes.

I've done a fresh install of ubuntu 26.04 and setup a new OE-A 5.6 build environment.
I haven't changed anything apart from feeds address in site.conf in the attached zip.

Do I need to make some changes?

Why are you using /run for the caches?
It's normally a) only writeable by root and b) erased every time you reboot.

This line of your build log may indicate a log file that will tell you more about what went wrong:
Code:
ERROR: Logfile of failure stored in: /run/media/willo/ViX/build-enviroment/builds/openvix/developer/gb7252/tmp/work/x86_64-linux/m4-native/1.4.20/temp/log.do_compile.34725

Having had issues in the past with disk ownership, I tend to use an ssd for an OEA Version, so I create a directory in /home and in fstab mount the labelled ssd to that specific directory by uuid.

It's the second SSD drive that used to have windows on it. Ubuntu mounted it as run I assume.
I'll have to try doing what @twol has done and change the mount for it.

It seems that /run/media is used for external drive mounting in 26.04. Previously it was just /media.
Doesn't seemed to have got a mention in the Release Notes.

Now wondering how many of my scripts this is going to affect....

Tried again with Ubuntu 26.04 and built with OE 6.0 but still failing.
Are there any alterations or exclusions that I need to make?
