I have a strange problem, and I don't know if it is a hardware or a software issue, maybe you guys can help..? My box tends to go in standby mode when I'm watching TV. I can then turn it on again, and it's working just fine. Next time this happens, and I turn it on again, it might just turn itself off once more after a second or two. I then start it up again, and then it's working. Today it has gone in standby about six times. What can this be..? Any advice?

The electricity is absolute stable, so I can rule out that one. Wheter it is getting to warm, is impossible for me to say, as I don't know which (if any..?) plugin I can use to read the temperature. All I can say is that the fan is running, and that is doesn't feel warm.

Today I installed the Sherlock plugin, and about ten minutes later, the box went in standby. When I turned it on again, it was running without any problems at all. That is; all my language settings was gone. No subtitles, and wrong audio on all the channels where this is set manually. I don't know if this was caused by the standby-issue, or the installation of Sherlock.

Well, I don't have Sherlock installed but I have the same problem with languages it seems that the box doesn't remember the language I was using the last time as it used to do. I don't know if this has anything to do with the fact that the audio channel is listed as "Undetermined".

What are you auto-language settings? "Use stored by system" (or something similar) should be enabled.

I am not at home now and cannot check but it worked before and I haven't changed anything, unless something can be changed during an update, but that was several days ago.

I checked and "stored by system" is ON. It seems that this happens ONLY on channels that have the second audio track listed as "Undetermined", i.e. most of SKY IT, and it changed recently before it was "English" or "Original" , Probably another way SKY It has found of pissing of who doesn't use their crappy decoder....

This indeed can happen after an update: if anything was changed in this area, the default-value will be chosen by the system. I ran into the same problem recently.
But now that you corrected it, it works fine again, I presume?

Anyway: I don't think SKY IT has anything to do with this :)

Hi guys,
Is anyone having problems with recording in standby mode and then the box staying on after recording?
[I get the vix logo wizzing in the mornings].
I have noticed this on the last two records I have done overnight.
Do I need to set something somewhere?
Thanks in advance,

There was no recent update, and it remebers for a while then it's back to the first audio channel even the recordings have the wrong audio selected... I'll try to understand exactly when it forgets.

It's my experience that if something nasty happens the safe bet is that it's SKY's fault....

Hi, Just to answer my own question I realise there is an option under timer to make box go into standby after recording- it was set as auto.

Hmmm, always good if someone solves his own problem, but:
1- What did you mean by "I get the vix logo wizzing in the mornings"? If you mean seeing the "Spinners" (VIX-logo turning around) that means that one core of the processor is 100% busy; that can't be solved by a setting;
2- The setting "auto" was correct. It means that the box will go in standby after a recording, if you are not watching telly.

So I'm not convinced your problem has been solved.

And to add my own experience: lately it happens quite often to see the spinners in the morning. Most of the time I have to solve that with a cold reboot (power switch).

Hi VUplus NL
Thanks for the feedback. To go by the points raised:
1 - yes, I was referring to the spinner.
2 - When I used the DE image I think I set as "go to standby" after a recording.

I'll have to test this to see what happens after a recording to know if it works or not. Hopefully it does. I don't recall having to reboot every morning in the past after a recording at night.

Hi,
Just to feedback - shame on me!
VUplusNL, my attempt failed. So is there no solution to this?
What may have caused this - too many plugins installed or EPG running?
Thanks in advance,

Well, in my case: the situation got worse every day. I resored the settings of some 2 weeks ago, and all is fine again. So don't ask me what went wrong, but it is solved (for the time being??).

To make clear:
- "Auto" in the timer settings means that sfter the recording the box will do what it was doing before the recording started. So if it was in standby, it will return to standby, if it was in DeepSleep it will return to that.
- "StandBy"in the timer means it will always go to standby once finished.

In both cases the box will remain On if you are watching telly.

Hi!
I have a really annoying problem. Watching TV, both tuners are activated after a few minutes. The red "R" is blinking in the infobar, and if I try to restart enigma through the menu, I get a warning that there's a recording going on. The problem is that there's no recordings going on, and no recordings waiting in the timer list either. If I turn the box off using the powerbutton, it sounds like the harddisk is still running, even if it it set to go off after 10 seconds. The box is behaving as it is recording something, but it isn't. If I restart enigma, only one tuner (A) is active, and if I turn off the power at this state, it is working as it should, The harddisk is then spinning down after a few seconds.

Any advice on how I can get rid of this ghost-recording..?

Can anyone help me to setup video configuaration for my VU+ duo, thank you
Thanks

I think that I have a corrupt EPG. Looking at the entries for BBC HD channel some are correct but some are showing the wrong programmes (e.g the next day's programme in the same timeslot). I have tried doing an import but it doesn't make any difference. Cna I simply delet the \media\usb\epg.dat file or is there a cache that needs to be flusked as well? If so how do I clear the cache?

Just remove that file.
But first stop Enigma2 (Telnet "init 4") and start E2 again after the removal (Telnet "init 3").

Once E2 is alive again, you can do an EPG-import.
