Can't flash image

Trying to flash any image not working. Box doesn't enter update menu - tried numerous USB sticks, and all the suggestions and procedures on this site and elsewhere. Using flashing online just results in a message saying downloading filename file but it doesn't - it sits there for hours even overnight. I'm stuck.

Is the box just defective now although it does work using the current dated openatv6.2 firmware.

flashing usb recovery needs recovery zip not the zip used for online flash
can you telnet into box?
have you tried entering recovery mode and downloading an image???

Thanks - I've been trying to update by flashing using these files on a USB stick:

• apploader.bin
• bootargs.bin
• fastboot.bin
• imageversion
• usb_update.bin

I don't know any other way except flashing online which doesn't work

1. if you can still access box then copy non recovery zip image to hdd - where it should be found (/HDD/imagebackups for OpenViX will do) and flash online from software (ImageManager for OpenViX)
2. if Recovery loaded (depends on age of box) then power it off at the rear switch first, then power it on using the rear panel switch and at the same time hold down the central button on the front panel
On some boxes its on the rear between sdcard and power connection
Typical crap Octagon changing things
Maybe some guys have it working and can add correct procedure (mine is used to keep door open)

I don't have Openvix installed - it's Oepnatv. No imagebackups folder. I copied 'openatv-7.5.1-sf8008-20250909_mmc' ti 'images' folder on the harddidsk but it doesn't show when I try to locate it from FlashLocal - that seems to contain images that I saved in the past.

Have you tried to flash image it using ofgwrite? Some people call it "couch flash".
OpenViX uses "Image manager" to invoke it
OpenATV uses "Flash Online"
OpenPLi uses "Flash Image"

For Vix, download the latest image using your PC. Transfer the zip file using Filezilla/WinSCP to "/media/hdd/imagebackups". You should hopefully be able to flash it from there.

I got the other images to use various location. But you are on older ATV image so wont have those changes. Try transferring to /hdd/media/images/

Otherwise, see if you can flash ATV 7.51 using "Flash online".

The FlashOnline works with my saved images in the harddisk/imagesfolder but any file I copy there does not appear in the Flash list. My old saved imaged do and successfully install with ofhwrite

Please flash 7.51. You should be able to then flash ViX once you are on 7.51. There will be a Yellow "distribution" icon at bottom.

I downloaded the Openvix non-recovery file and it was recognised. Installed with ofgwrite ok - waiting to see how it went.

I couldn't flash 7.51 - only available images shewn were 6.xx and those just stuck on the downloading message.

OpenVix seems to have installed - no idea why the OpenAtv didn't even show

As long s OpenViX is installed then good…. Use as your base image and go from there.
