convert ext3 to ext4

hi when i try to convert the file system fron ext to ext4, i get the following error message

conver ext to ext4

error /devsda1 has been mounted 581 time without being checked,check forced
/dev/sda1 error alloxating block bitmap1


any ideas

i think it worked this time after i intiased it again & remounted it again. i got no dislay images then it counted down & disapeared with no error messages

The error stems from the HDD being mounted; if you unmount it, the conversion will be possible.

If I understood you correctly, you have re-initialised the HDD. In that case the complete contents of the HDD has gone, and the HDD will be formatted to Ext4 (so no need for a conversion any more).
