A very strange problem which I have not been able to resolve. I have both a motorised dish on tuner (a) and a fixed sky dish on tuner (b) In the past if I was watching a channel say on 16e and switched to a local station on 28e the box would automatically switch to tuner (b) saving the motorised dish from moving, but now the motorised dish moves to 28e using tuner (a) As soon as I start to channel switch on the sky channels in changes to tuner (b) which is what it should have done in the beginning.

I have tried both selecting tuner (b) as preference in the settings, and a fresh install without backup but still the problem remains.

Hope this post makes sense, and wonder if anyone has experienced this issue and found a solution.

whow did you set preferred recording tuner ? I have 4 tuners and working fine here with rotor on tuner 2.
PS: is your tuner setting still ok with the right sats set in disecq ?

Yes,all is OK as both tuners work fine on both fixed and motorised dish, it is just the box has started to use the motorised dish instead of the fixed sky dish when I move from watching a channel outside of 28e, should not be related to recording preference as always had this on auto . This is a new problem, never had the issue with my old duo or my duo2 till now, very strange

The default settings (i.e. "preferred tuner = auto") should take care of the fixed dish being preferred.
What you mention should only happen if the fixed dish is already in use for a recording or for streaming.

Agree it should not happen, but it does. All has been fine until I noticed the duo2 did have a little wobbly (no crash log I am afraid) and that's when the problem started. I have done a complete fresh reinstall and the problem is still there. I thought perhaps it could be a hardware problem, but once I am on 28e it does switch to the fixed dish for all other freesat channels as it should do and the motorised dish kicks in when I select any non 28e channels.

I am aware of the new procedure, but I am not reporting this as a possible bug or requesting support from the team, I was interested to know if any other duo2 owner has had a similar problem and found a solution at this stage.

I'm sure it's related to your setup/box usage. Cause here it (still) works as it says on the tin, and nothing has been changed in this area for ages.

I am still having the same problem with my duo2 as reported, so have done another clean install:-

Settings set to tuner B for preference and recording set to Auto

Both tuners are working OK, but when I want to change channel from my motorised say on 13e, to 28e which is allocated to tuner B, it uses tuner A and ignores tuner B!

I am beginning to think I have a hardware issue, any comments or suggestions would be very welcome.

If you had a hardware issue, you would be getting tune failed messages.

Prior to changing, you could check which tuner was occupied and obviously know whether a recrding is taking place. Ar eyou ssure that nobody (in the house or otherwise) is streaming from receiver.

Yes I am getting tuner fail messages, I have also noticed tonight that whilst I was watching a channel on tuner (A) the tuner (B) light kept turning on and off even though it was not being used. I have run a few tests, firstly, I took the Ethernet cable out and the problem appeared to stop. Thinking I may have been hacked via my web interface, I disabled access by giving it a 0 port via the menu settings but the problem is still there. So all a bit inconclusive

Sounds like someone's using your tuners so...
Use netstat in telnet to see who it might be and close any open ports on your router.

All my open ports are fixed to my devices ip address's and I only open ports that are required for them to work, could access be via the web interface, is there anyway to secure this?

And all thats required for anyone else to use them too...
If you really want to stream externally, you should look into using a VPN.

You make a valid point, I will close all the open ports relating to my duo2 and see if that sorts the problem.

I have closed the transcoding ports to my duo2, and although early days it does look like I have resolved this issue. It was only the fact that the duo2 shows on the front panel that tuner (B) was on although it was not being used that alerted me to the possibility I was being hacked, and Judge giving me the clarification I needed to close my streaming ports, it could have taken ages to find out the problem.

Good to see you've sorted the issue.
It's happened to way more people than you & will happen to loads more.
Remember, E2 was never designed with security in mind.
If you want to open ports to it externally, you should really be reading up on how to on network security & VPN type sites.

I have been thinking about implementing a VPN, this issue will add some urgency to getting it done. A job for the next rainy day I think.

That's pretty conclusive indeed. Can be external or in your home, but surely you were not alone.
As stated above, the telnet command 'netstat' would have told you who it was/were.

Yes very conclusive, have been using my box today and it has been perfect. I am confident the problem was not generated at home, as I was the only person in the house when the problem was happening, and being a clean install there were recordings planned. My router does generate reports on all unusual activity and there were a couple of IP address's that were not known to me, although am tempted to open the ports and run netstat, could be interesting. It was the front panel screen that alerted me to a potential problem, as I could see the (B) tuner turning on and off when I knew it was not been used by me. I did believe my setup was secure, so a bit of an eye opener A warning to all the potential danger of open ports, and VPN is the best way to go.

I have warned against that time after time. There are many reports like yours.
