Every time I try to download EPG for a provider using OpenTV, my Vu+ Duo crashes and restarts and it gives me a file call 'pts_livebuffer' in the /media/hdd folder.

Why is it crashing every time I try to download EPG?

(I have the latest version of VIX 2.0)

Thanks

have you got a crash log that u can post here for the guys to look at? also is this the first time this has happened?

The crash doesn't create a crash log. The Vu+ Duo just restarts and says loading Enigma II.

hmm thats strange, have you got a usb stick you can try the epg on instead of the hdd?

The EPG downloads fine when saving data to USB stick.

Why won't it work when I want to save EPG data to HDD???

hmm just check and make sure hdd is mounted in device manager as media/hdd

My HDD is mounted as: /media/hdd
Device:/dev/sda1

My USB stick is mounted as: /media/sdb1
Device: /dev/sdb1

usb should be mounted as media/usb although thats not wats causing the epg crash ... ftp to media/hdd and check if the hdd folder permissions is set to 755 atleast

The HDD folder is set to 755. Epg was downloading fine to HDD until today.

How do I mount the USB as /media/usb?

if you go into device manager, scroll down to usb, press green (setup mounts), scroll down to usb and right arrow until it goes to media/usb. will ask to reboot, reboot and thats it. if it works on usb id stick to using epg on usb ad picons too if you use picons. im honestly not too sure why its crashing on hdd for ya. does timeshift work for you?

Timeshift works fine.

If I save Epg data to a USB stick, will it take longer for the VU+ Duo to restart when their is a crash or I need to restart the box?

no, i have my internal hdd for timeshift and recordings and my epg and picons on usb and all works perfectly fine. majority of people on here store epg and picons on usb as it allows the hdd to chill out abit instead of everytime you change channels it has to fire up to load picons ... whereas if you stick em on usb, its always there but doesnt effect performance in my opinion. makes it work better for me :p

Thanks punisher for your help m8. I will just save EPG on USB stick.

Cheers
